Surgery done!!!!

Surgery was on the 17th. Wow, was that night and the 18th rough. I don't think I've ever thrown up that much in my whole life. By process of elimination I think it was the antibiotics and reaction to the anethesia. Saturday's leak test revealed that the surgery was a complete success.
Even more convince now that I made the right decision choosing Dr. Kelly. He was amazing. His assistant Trish is just as amazing in her way. She was an angel for two women in Mexico who were scared just to be there. I cannot say enough good about these two people.
Now the hospital, that's a different story. As an American I guess I was expecting more, but you know what they say, "you get what you pay for." Which I would have gladly paid more to have better accomodations. The staff were wonderful, the equipment was antiquated and are in desperate need of updating. My bed mattress was a bag of rocks, my sister's (who went with me) bed was like a piece of plywood, the IV poles hardly roll and tip over very easily and I had plastic lawn furniture as a chair. Florence Hospital needs lots of updating. It is very clean and the staff are nice, friendly and accomodating.
I was driven by Dr. Kelly's son, Sam, to the leak test which was done at Hospital Angeles. From what I saw of that hospital I wish I could have had my surgery done there. I would have gladly paid more.
I've been home now for a couple of days and I feel great. I never really experienced any pain. I have not been sore or uncapable of doing anything. I will return to work on Thursday and work a couple of days this week. I guess I will see how that goes.

February 3, 2011 -- began my weight loss journey Feb 3, 2011 (my 52nd birthday). I visited with a surgeon and decided that VSG was the way I wanted to go. After that visit I also made the decision to have my surgery in Mexico with Jaime Ricardo Ramos-Kelly in Tijuana.
Everything I have researched and learned about Dr. Kelly tells me that I have made the right decision. So my surgery date is Feb 17th. My sister will travel with me so that I don't have to be alone. She was recently sleeved so I am letting her lead the way and she is doing an awesome job.
More to come. I start my pre-op diet today. I need to go shopping because the meal replacement shakes that I bought yesterday are not very good.
