"Sister's Hospital has a wing set aside for the use of WLS patients, with the extra large wheel chairs, comfortable beds, over sized chairs for obesse patients. The nursing staff is dedicated to helping the obess surgery patient and many of the nurses have had the surgery so they know what the patient is going through."

Joseph Caruana
"Dr. Caruana is a very caring compassionate surgeon who is able to talk to you at your level and incorporates just the right amount of humor to make you feel very at ease. The longer you know him, the better you like him. His office staff is A1. At my first appointment a patient of his, upon leaving, became seriously ill. The efforts of Dr. Caruana and his staff were unequal. After seeing this with my own eyes, I have nothing but the highest regard for efforts. There is nothing I dislike about Dr. Caruana unless it would be how busy he is. Therefore it is necessary for him to have others in his office fill in for him at different times. Dr. Caruana specializes in open RNY gastric bypass. After the years he had performed this surgery, he feels it is the best WLS available and being open he has a better view of what is going on inside you. Aftercare is emphasized for the rest of your life with continued checkups, blood work, and most important Synergy, a Health & Fitness Program he and his associate advocates. Also provided are numerous peer group support that I found very helpful to address my many questions as pre op. I no doubt will find this group invaluable now that I'm post op. I rate him A1 along all areas of expertise. When he conducted his WLS seminar, he was up front with the statics of WLS, as well as his statics. "
