"A most excellant and knowledgeable individual. She leads out support group meetings and is always bringing in new topics and speakers and handouts. She will tell you if you are starting to do something wrong, and help you correct it without making you feel like you're a failure. Very supportive, a real joy to work with!"
"Dr. Skendaris is very quiet, but extremely knowedgeable and intuiative when talking to his patients. He has a great administrative staff and everything proceeds smoothly according to built in time frames. As I am pre-op I could not say anything about his bedside manner, but in a few more days I shall be able to report on that characteristic as well. He discussed the pros and cons of this surgery and when asked blunt questions, point blank, there is no hesitation, just straight on answers. I have nothing but praise from his fellow surgeons in and around his practice, and am glad that I was referred to his practice for this surgery.
Now that I am post op and have had an office visit, my respect for Dr. Skendaris goes even higher. I have been following the diatary guidelines to a 't', and I went in to have the drain taken out, and he was so impressed with my progress that he said, 'don't even come in next week, you're doing everything just perfectly!' He has answers for every question and seems genuinely pleased with my progress, unlike some surgeons I have encountered who treat thier patients like a walking cash machine. I cannot say enough good things about him as a surgeon. I would recommend him to anyone seeking bariatric surgery!"
"While the hospital and staff are very nice, there seems to be a bit of a lag on the Bariatric recovery side to things. For example, the bariatric beds are way too small for wls patients, so we have to be in the regular beds. Which would be fine if the buttons for assistance were not located near your shoulders. The dietary staff do not seem to be on top of things for post-op bariatric patients of diabetics. My 'test' meal was laden with sugars and ingredients I would have never even considered eating pree-op and when asked, they just said, "that's what you were assigned", even though I know for a fact that my surgeon specifically designated me as a non-caffiene, no sugar patient, so they could use a bit of education or communication in that direction. Nursing was wonderful, and there is always that 1 or 2 individuals who put a bad taste in your mouth, but overall, the nursing was top notch. Daily visits either by my surgeon or his assistant's, while quick, were very much appreciated."
"While this a bit pricey for everyday use, talk about a wonderful flavor alternative to the thicker protein shakes! I've had the Grape and Apple flavors, and they taste so good! 40 gr. of prot. in each bottle! The burst of energy I get when out riding my bicycle is awesome, and I never feel dragged out afterwards, or 'heavy' after taking in a thicker 'shake' type drink."
"Tried this as a sample and it was awesome!...but...I added 12 oz. of water vs. the requested 8 oz. (I like my drinks a little on the thin side). Liked it enough to order some for post-op! Will be looking at trying the other flavors!"
