Like so many, I have fought with my weight since age 5.  I have done all the diets and am now so frustrated that I have chosen WLS.

I am suffering from Hypertension, GERD, Fibromyalgia, joint and back problems.  It is time to take control.

I have two wonderful children, Geoffrey, who will be 19 on Sept 1, 2007 and Ethan who turned six on Jan 23, 2007.  THEY are my reason for doing the surgery.  I want to be healthy and going strong for them.  Geoffrey is studying to become a pharmacist and Ethan who was born with Down Syndrome is just truly a joy to me!  Ethan is the MARCH boy in the the 2007 Central MS Down Syndrome Calendar!  OH, that was such a proud mama moment when I found out they were using his pic for the calendar!!!!

05/01/07 - Got the insurance approved!  After looking to do this for over 5 years, I finally took the steps to get it done and insurance did not take long - I could not believe it after reading about the problems so many have had!

Now just waiting to hear from CMMC about the Pre-Op and Nutritional info and doctor visit.    Getting Excited!

05/15/07  Had the EGD yesterday and my son thought that I was very funny on the way home!  Thanks Geoffrey!  Went for my pre-op at the hospital today and have a visit with Dr. Cleveland on Thursday.  I am also doing all the paperwork for pre-admission on Thursday.  My little man, Ethan, will also be having surgery  (oral) on Friday the 18th so I think that we will meet and exceed medical expenses this year for tax purposes!!!  Enjoyed meeting everyone today and all the great conversation.  Look forward to watching all of us move over to the LOSING SIDE!  I am beginning to get a few butterflies, so I think that Dr. Cleveland will have to let them all out before he staples up the stomach!  I want to be the only butterfly coming out of the cocoon.......

After visiting with Dr. Cleveland, I believe that I will be in great hands.  I pray that the Lord guides his hands and that I have an uneventful, successful surgery!  The time is moving fast - just 2 1/2 weeks now.

Well, just got back from having my last meal before surgery.  Tomorrow - slim fast all day and Sunday is clear liquid day.  And then intestinal cleanout time...........  I enjoyed the sushi, rice and chicken from one of the local Japanese restaurants.  I hope my taste for Japanese does not change with the surgery - it is one healthy choice I do make!  I am getting soooooooo excited!

12/12/2007

It has been a rough 6 months!  Just about every problem that could go wrong, did!  The first eight weeks felt like an eternity of hospital stays, emergency rooms and radiology - putting in drains, taking them out, opening up the stoma - twice, high fever, etc!  I developed and maintained an INTIMATE relationship with the toilet - anyones - not just mine and last week had to have a hysterectomy.  Now with the positive:  DOWN 100 pounds, OFF all meds except vitamins and now estrogen, feeling GREAT and full of energy!  When all the healing is done for this last surgery, I will be at the gym again working to get the last 35 pounds off!  If you are reading this and trying to decide to have the surgery, remember this:  even with all my complications, I would do it again!
