I like everyone else on this site has struggled with my weight since Iwas three years old. I had been a pretty thin little girl and then taken ill. After this illness my mother said I just started putting on weight and that has been my life story.
I am a professional at going on diets, and have been pretty successful at initial weight loss. Then it stops and I go back to gaining weight. I actually have alway been really active. I walk, swim, hike, snowshoe, Xcountry ski, although not anymore. My family Doc has seen me through a lot of diets and now we are beginning the conversation of surgical intervention. I love to research various topics so I am spending many hours a day trying to learn all that I can so I can make an informed decision to help me finally, become successful at weight loss and the maintaining of a healthy weight for my body and lifestyle.
There are so many choices, and pros and cons for each procedure. I too am finding there are limited doctors in my area that my insurance will accept for the procedure. With this I am not discouraged because if this is meant to be it will and with the best technically qualified surgeon.
I hope to learn even more and to get support from others like me that are just trying to find a way to be healthy and to share the struggles of healthy eating and healthy lifestyle changes. My goal is to be down 100 pounds by my 50th birthday. I have 17 months.
