Feb 11, 2007
Dr. Sartor , came and stated that yes I will be going home today.. and that everything looks excellent... and to continue my liquid diet.. until my next doctors appt which is February 19... when he left the nurse came and advised me that if i feel sick, start to vomit, incisions bleed or temper is over 100.. to call ... she then took out my drain... I walked the floor one last time... when I got back .. I got dressed and was on my way home..
When I got home.. all I wanted to do is sleep, which I did.. I wake up around 4pm ( I got home around noon) my aunt asked me was I going to walk...and I advised her yes.. I got up and walked my drive way 2 times.. ( its a very long drive way and the walking is go for me.. ) When I got back in I had some sf applesauce strawberry harvest... about to spoons and that was it... to date I am constantly sipping my water... and sf lemonade... I am still not hungry but I know i have to consume something... This a typical date for me.. breakfast.. carnation instant breakfast(no sugar added) lunch some soup ( with whey protein added) .. dinner soup again... applesauce or jello (sugar free) and water all day long.. ( i wake up at night sipping water..)
and lord only knows I cant wait for my liquid diet to be over... its not bad at all.. but the taste thats left in your mouth .,. is something to get use too.. lol ( but i am managing) until next time...

My big day is here
Feb 11, 2007
Once I got there we went to the fifth floor, located the AS area and I got dressed, now keep in mind this is my first surgery so I would not say I was scared just not sure of whats going to happen. I was completed pre for surgery and around 8am my doctor came in and wanted to make sure that I was okay, I stated yes.,. and I was then rolled to surgery.. Now once I got there they advised me to roll over towards the other bed they had..slide up some and to position my head so that they could place the mask for the anesthisa... as that was place on my face.. they place my arms so that they were resting towards my side... and I breathe... I remember them saying to just breath slowing.. and that I was doing good, the next thing I remember I was being told to breath slowly, and that everything went excellent... ( so as you can see from the time I was rolled into surgery to the time I was rolled out happen so quickly in my mind... one minute i am breathing and just looking around the room wishing the precedure is over and then i am waking up thinking it cant be over ..lol)
They then rolled me to my room where my aunts were awaiting for me.. and just smiling... lol (yall I can only say .... thrust was on me.... hard) I had no pain... what so ever, just soreness in my chest area... but then again it could be do to the pain pump I had also.... the only thing I could do was ask the nurse when can I have something to drink or ice.. now this was around noon that I asked this... and she stated later this evening go figure...
My doctor. .. the wonderful Dr. Sartor came by my room .. checked my breathing and again advised me how,.. wonderful the operation went..,. and that I should able to go home Wednesday...
Later that evening I was up and walking the floor.... the nurses stated that I was running, but god is my witness, I was not in any pain at all... and when the ice came... it was a blessing..
Pre-Approved Nightmare
Feb 02, 2007
I first want to say hello to everyone and give you some insight on my journey and here is a breif summary of my pre approval issues..
I have finally completed all of my pre-qualification process and Dr. Merriman submitted my request today 9/18/06.. I got a call from the nurse at his office.. on 9/20 and was advised that I was approved... ( Thank God, I only need my date now)
So months go by and I am only waiting for a call confirming my date.. However I was hoping that I would have been at home and among the LOSERS by my birthday which is November 21, needless to say.. I was in for some disappointing news, the nurse called me and advise me that Dr. Merriman felt that it would be to my advantage to have the LAP BAND, instead of the RNY, and they were calling to confirm if I still wanted to have surgery, but the BAND instead, and I advise the doctor that yes, I need some type of assistance to help my with my weight loss goal, and I figured that since I was approved the the RNY, which is more complicated I would have no problem getting approved for the BAND, ( I WAS WRONG).. Dr. Merriman, called and I set up a appointment , in December. When I got to his office I was enformed that BCBS, would only pay for the BAND if my BMI is under 50, needless to say my BMI was 56 and per their calculations I would have to lose 100 lbs before the BAND would be approved so I left there feeling depression and angry.
But, god has a plan and his way is the right way, ( and what I mean about this is that he wanted my surgery to be closer to home.. ) that next day at work, I advised my friend, who is also had the WLS, and she advise me of a doctor, local I first called my aunt who is a RN , and she know of the docotor and advise me of how good he was, and she if i was to pick a doctor local he would be my best option, So that next day I called Dr. Sartor's office and spoke with Brenda, and set up a appointment for January 9... needless to say my new doctor was aware of my pre- approval with my old docotor and they wanted to might sure I was still approve.. so they resubmitted my information . I was advised of my approve on January 19, ( I was smiling for ear to ear..lol) and Brenda called me January 29 and advised my that my date was set for February 5..... so please put me in your prays..
