May 12-17, 2007 Second through Seventh Post op days
OMG....I was sicker than a dog. Unable to drink more than 11oz/day and getting quite dehydrated. My nausea was absolutely horrid!!! And the gas pains and diarrhea. I spent several hours thinking that maybe that I had made a bad decision. I was mad at myself for being so weak and not being able to lose the weight and keep it off by myself. My doc had me go the the hospital on Monday and have an upper GI just to make sure that my outlet wasn't completely swollen shut. But thank goodness it was open and my band looked awesome. On Tuesday I spent several hours in the ER to get IV fluids due to dehydration. Had the ER doc called my surgeon prior to discharging me then I'm sure I would have had to spend the night in the hospital.
But today is post op day 7 and I am starting to feel better. Getting in my fluids and able to move on to pureed foods. I am still very tired and did not return to work today. I will wait until Monday. I'm sure the extra days will really help. At least I am past having thoughts about having this band removed. I am now off on my weight loss journey and the beginning of my new life!!! Since starting my pre op diet I have lost
29#. I wouldn't recommend the GI bug but hey, now that I'm gonna
live, I'll take it!!! LOL
05/10/07 Surgery Day and Post op Day 1
Day 7 of Pre-Op liquid diet***Only 3 more days till Banding!!!
May 06, 2007
Today is day 7 of my pre-op liquid diet, YEAH. What I wouldn't give to gnaw on something crunchy!!! But the diet is going well! As of today, I have lost 14.5#!!! My goal was to be below 300# by May 10th and today, I met that goal!!! I weighed 299#. Now, I am looking to be in the mid to low 290's prior to surgery!!! I have decided my goal weight at this point will be 185. I know that is not what the charts say, but I think that will be maintainable. Plus, I have never been an ideal weight so I don't know how that feels. So that means I need to lose a total of 128#. Whew that sounds like alot! But honestly, this is the first time in my life that I feel like I will be successful.
I told my in-laws about my surgery today. I had dreaded it because one of my husband's cousins died 25 years ago during bariatric surgery and I just knew that they would just have a fit!! Turns out the good Lord, paves the path for us sometime. My father-in-law is under hospice care and one of the nurses that has been seeing him, that they absolutely adore had a band about 6 months ago and is doing awesome. She has shared her experience with my in-laws and
they have been very excited for her. So my mom-in-laws response
was "I am so proud of you for doing this before your weight affects
your health." My what a surprise that was to me. They will be
praying for me and can hardly wait to see my success. I just know
that the Lord is blessing me with this surgery so that for once in
my life I can feel better about myself.
5 days on pre-op liquid diet
May 04, 2007
I have lost 10# and want to be below 300 before surgery on May 10th. Hopefully, I will make it. Today has been tougher than the first 4. Seemed to be more hungry today. Also pizza night at my house....UUUGGGHHH
I'm truly glad that support group meeting is tomorrow. I need the added support to make it another 5 days. The great thing is only 5 more days till surgery!!! Gotta think about the positive!!
