It has been a while

Dec 06, 2008

It has been sometime since  I have posted.  The band is work well for me.  I am now down 55 pounds and can see a difference in the way me clothes fit.  Sometimes I pass a mirror or big window and still have to do a double take.

My husband just had his band placed two weeks ago.  He has already lost 40 pounds just from the liquid diet.  Now with both of us doing this together it should be easier.

I hope to post new pictures soon.

changed back to the band

Jul 27, 2008

I have decided to have the band insted of the RNY.  I beleive this is the best chose for me right now.  I have to resign my consent forms on July 31.  I am now on the 2 week liquid diet and have lost almost ten pounds.  I now have my sister dieting because she doesn't want me to be thinner than her.  which has never happened.  I think it is funny how my choice to have WLS has change alot of people around me.  I can't wait until I start seeing results and their eyes bug out.

Meet the doctor on Thursday

Jul 08, 2008

I go thrusday to do my meet and greet with the doctor and nut.  We had a wonderful 4th.  the weather was beautiful for Missouri.  All my family was here.  Minus my oldest nephew.  Too busy these days I guess.

I am ready to get on the other side.  Sometime this waiting really sucks.  Then I think damn I have to start my 2 week pre op diet in less than 2 weeks.  It will be hard for me for I will be in Kansas City that first week with my daughter at a national softball tournament.  I just have to look at the big picture and know that it is the best thing that I can do for myself right now.  And next year at nationals I will be healthier and feeling like playing ball myself.

Got my surgery date

Jun 19, 2008

Got my surgery date yesterday.  It is Aug 4.  Now things are starting to sink in.  I am really going to have this surgery and change my life.   This will be such a great tool in my weight loss journey.  I just hope that coping with the loss of my best friend (food) isn't too much to handle.  I have been on more diets and lost enough weight to be three people.  Now I will loss and maintain in a way I have never done.

Got approved today

Jun 12, 2008

I found out today that I have been approved for RNY.  Now waiting for the letter to take into the office and began the rest of the process and get a date.  Now that I am getting closer it is begining to register that I am going to make a big change in my life. I have dieted many times and lost enough weight to be three average size people.  Does anyone out there have a good way to deal with the lost of my best friend. (FOOD)  this is going to be the real problem for me.  I used to do a lot of needle work.  Maybe that will be a good place to start.  It will give me something to do with my hands.  It helped when I quit smoking so maybe it will help now.

Still waiting

May 28, 2008

well I heard from my insurance and have been approved for the lap band.  Now waiting to be approved for the RNY.   I have started trying some of the protein drinks.  Just need to find some that are low in sugar.  I am still trying to lose weight before I get my date.  I have my 25th class reunion at the end of June.  so hoping for a date the first part of July.

Still waiting

Apr 28, 2008

I am now waiting to hear back from my sleep study and insurance.  Have yet to get to the gym but am planing on following the weight watchers program.  This should get me jump started.  Had my cereal this morning for breakfast and plan on a low cal sub for lunch.  Hope I here something soon.

Waiting on sleep test

Apr 01, 2008

I am waiting now to have my sleep study done.  Found out today the my insurance doesn't cover any pre-op testing.  How silly is that.  But they do cover the surgery.  Maybe I can get the doctors to change the wording or codes they use for all of it to be covered.

I am scheduled for a sleep study on April 22.  If that goes well maybe I will get a date for surgery soon.

I said in my last post I was looking at the band.  Now I am also looking at the RNY.  The doctor said it works better for people who need to lose more that 60 pounds.

Right now I am weighing my options.  I would just like to get this weight off and keep it off for life.  \

I came down with a terrible cold and cough.  So am waiting till next week to start at the gym.  Alway an excuse isn't there.

In the begining

Mar 19, 2008

Hello there to all my fellow WLS (hopefully soon friends) and supporters.  I am entering into this with a very open mind and realizing that this is only a tool and I have to do the work.

I have been researching the different types of WLS for the past two years.  And have determined that I would like to have the Lap Band as my tool for weight loss.

I have done the blood work and had my physic eval done today.  I believe it went very well.  I have my first office visit next week on March 26, 2008.  I hope to be banded before July.  Not sure how long it will take to get a date.

But I have a plan.  I think that this weight loss process needs to start before the day of surgery.  So my plan is to get a gym membership in the next two weeks and begin working out prior to the surgery.  At least as much as my joints will allow.  I use to be very active and have found myself in a very non active mode the last year due to knee surgery and lack of desire to get up off my butt.

I plan on posting a photo as soon as I take some.  Taking photos of myself is one of the things that I have not done in a long time because I don't like what I see in them.  There is no way in hell that fat person who is in that photo is me.  Well it is time to realize I did that to myself and it is time to take charge and change it.  So be looking for some photo soon.

I have always been the BIG BONED girl.  I am 5 10 and weight 313 pounds.  This is my heaviest weight to date.  I didn't weight this much when I delivered my youngest daughter who weighed in at 10 pound 5 ounces.  She is now 16 and six feet tall and doesn't ever remember her mom being at a healthy weight.  But I am going to change that with the help of the Lap Band.

I will post as soon as I know more on surgery of the process.  I hope to be under 300 before I have the surgery.
