It's been almost four weeks since my surgery and i am doing pretty well.Still some minor seepage from a small area of the wound, but no infection fortunately. As of today I have lost  almost 38 pounds and I have had no food intolerance problems. Because of the extent of my procedure-a difficult revision with an incision about 12 inches long-I still have some pain in the incision area but it is well controlled with liquid pain medication. I now can walk about a mile a day, and perform more normal daily activities.I think it will probably be pretty much back to normal once the wound completely heals and I don't have to wear a bandage all the time.Overall I just feel soooo much better.I am off all my Diabetes meds now.That makes the whole surgery worth it!

Well.....gotta go now.I'll write more after I see my surgeon on Nov. 10th. 

Well, today I got a call from Dr. Crookes nurse, saying that the doctor wanted to move up my surgery date to this coming Friday-October 3 instead of the 8th, as had been planned.Because I am considered high risk he wanted to make sure that I would be able to go home from the surgery before he left on vacation.I am pleased that he is just so caring and thoughtful, yet I am running around like a MAD WOMAN trying to get everything ready to be able to drive down to Los Angeles on Thursday to be there Friday  AM for my surgery.I spent most of yesterday at the PACE program at USC, meeting with the Dietician, Anesthesiologist,Lab,X-ray,the Pre-Op Nurse and various other people to finalize everything for my chart to be ready for my hospital admission.They have a really organized system there where they take care of pretty much everything you need in one LONG day!

So.....Thursday I will be on the road to LA-about 200 miles from my home-and really excited about the whole adventure ahead of me.Keep a good thought for me that all will go as planned.Will write more when I get back home.
