Been a little while since I checked in so here is an update. I'm still going to the Ballys Total Fitness almost every day. Working with a personal trainer 2 days a week. It is really starting to pay off. Lost 7 pounds this week alone and am almost 1/2 way to my personal goal. Things are going great and I couldn't be happier with my progress. Did 30 min. on the treadmill, 15 min on the eliptical and 15 min. on the reclining bike. It felt great. I'm getting to the point where I kind of miss it on the few days I don't work out. Whoda thunk it! LOL

I think I must have hit my first real plateau. Only lost 1 pound this week. On the good side, I've joined a fitness club. Had my first real workout in 20 years last Thursday. Arms were kinda sore but the real pain was in my thighs! Damn that eliptical glider. 5 minutes and I was ready to collapse. It will only get better tho.

I MADE IT TO THE CENTURY CLUB!!! 100 pounds gone forever! WOO HOO!!! I would like to thank all the people who helped made this possible. My loving and supportive family and friends. My surgeon, Dr. Marshall, whose skill made this all possible. His office staff and the wonderful Doctors and Nurses at Henry Ford Bi-County Hospital. The great people at LivLite, especially Rochelle. My employers for their patience and understanding. My PCP, Dr. Barnett, for bugging me incessantly until I finally lisened. And last but not least you, my friends here at Obesity Help. I still have a long way to go but today is a special one. WOO HOO!!!

Just got back from spending a week in Florida visiting my parents. My Dad is very sick. He has Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS), a bone marrow disease with no cure. He needs blood transfusions every week to 10 days and is very weak. He could linger for many months before it takes his life. I was not sure if I would lose any weight while on my trip but weighing myself upon returning home yesterday I discovered that I lost 5 pounds while there. Still losing a steady 5 or 6 pounds per week and getting close to the century mark.

.Felt like i was in a rut this week, not losing much weight. I weighed myself on Wed. and had only lost 1 pound since Sun. I just have to remember that this is a long term deal and there will be plateaus. Then when I weighed myself today suddenly I was down another 4 pounds! This could drive you nuts! I think I'm gonna cut out the mid week weigh in for the sake of my mental health.

WHEW! That first week back to work is always a tough one. I survived though and it was great to hear all my co-workers tell me how great I look. (especially the cute receptionist) Still getting all my nutrition and exercise and feeling great! Great news is my BMI is now under 50 and I am no longer considered "super" obese. Still got a long way to go to my goal but it's a good start!

Went in for my 6 week post-op checkup with Dr. Marshall last Thursday. He says I am doing GREAT and can go back to work on Monday. I feel real good and have so far knocked 5 minutes off my 3 mile walk since I started going that distance.

Starting my last week off before I go back to work. Getting kinda bored ( and broke ) hanging around the house. Going to see my surgeon on the 18th and expect to get my clearance to go back to work then. Personally I feel I could have gone back 2 weeks ago but I'll do whatever he tells me. Not too much else going on, walking 3 miles every morning now. I am really starting to see my weight loss. My face, neck, arms, legs and belly are all looking thinner ( not enough for an "after" picture yet tho ).

Just a little over 4 weeks since my surgery and I feel GREAT! Very little pain anymore, just the occasional "twinge". Exercise is coming along good too. I pushed myself to walk 3 miles yesterday and this morning too. I did it but boy was I pooped. Was a good kind of tired tho as there was no way I could have done it a month ago. Bought a new talking scale off of e-bay. Gonna have to resist the temptation to weigh myself too often tho. Once a week should be enough. My weight loss is slowing down some but it was so fast at first that it was freaky.

Had a little leakage from the top of my incision last weekend. Called my surgeon and he instructed me to insert a Q-tip soaked in peroxide into the bottom of the incision to make it drain there instead. I did and it did. No big deal really but it did freak my sister out a bit. He also said he wanted to see me today so I went in. He removed all but 2 of my sutures and said I could remove the last 2 myself this weekend. Now for the best part, the weigh in! Weight came back at 383, down another 9 pounds from last Thursday. I never thought I would look forward to being weighed. lol
