A Buffet???
Sep 20, 2009
Today my family and I celebrated my grandmas 90th birthday at Hometown Buffet. That is right folks, I went to a buffet. I almost didn't go today because I wasn't sure how well I would do at an all you can eat place. However, I am not sure how much longer I will have my only surviving grandma and there was family from all over the country. I needed to be there.
I don't think I have ever left an all you can eat without being so miserable that felt like barfing. It's a sad statement, but it is true. I don't know if I ate that much because I wanted all the food I could get my hands on, or if I ate that much because I wanted to get my monies worth. Whatever the case, I felt a little bit like a junkie walking into a shooting (iv) gallery today.
I am proud to tell everyone that I ate very little at Hometown, and spent most of my time playing with the kids that were fed first. I cousin Cindy had two crying babies and I was done so I thought the best way to insure that I wouldn't eat anymore was to give her a break and let her eat in peace. It worked so well. I make quick friend with Cindy's two year old, who loved being walked around the restaurant. I was so excited when I got home I called April and told her all about my relief about surviving my first post op buffet. lol!

I walked my first mile in years!!!

Tonight I walked a mile for the first time in probably 20 years. I was so nice (I know this sounds gross) to feel the sweat rolling down my back. It gave me a sense of accomplishment. I wasn't completely out of breath, and I wasn't feeling like I might need to call an ambulance or something. I didn't even have to stop. I am so proud of myself. I would like to thank all of you on here for supporting me.

Today me and my crew went to ride the old train in Jamestown. It was so cool. The coolest thing was that I was able to climb the very steep four or five steps it took to get on and I didn't strain every muscle in my body.
It was so nice feeling like a "normal" person. (What ever normal is).

April has talked me into going hiking with my GF and other friends in Yosemite. She says that I will make it up to the lower falls without being in need of an oxygen tank (jk)
. Needless to say, it has been many moons since I have hoisted this big butt up any hills. We will see what happens.

Yesterday April and I worked on in the pool. Due to her recovery and my starting back to work, it had been a while since we had worked out. I woke up this morning two pounds lighter than on Wednesday when I weighed. It is all about the exercise BABY! sometimes I forget that. Having good friend that are going through this with you is priceless.
