Coming down little by little...
Jun 25, 2009
Stepped on the scale today...154! Only 41lbs to go. It may be creeping off, but at least it's coming down little by little.

Away for too long...
Jun 20, 2009
Perhaps all of us go through this, but it's been a while since I posted anything new. From my last post until now, many things have changed. I found the courage to quit my job (without having another one), moved back to the east coast (where I'm originally from), decided to go natural and started to see myself for the amazing woman I am...even if still under layers of fat. This journey has been an interesting one and it's far from being over. I still have about 45lbs to loose to get to my ideal weight. Yet through major transitions and upheavals in my professional and personal life, I am still happier than I ever was at 213lbs. My boost in confidence hasn't led me to more appreciative glances from the opposite sex or a promotion at work. Most of the change has been internal and I know in due season, everything will manifest in the physical. This has been a lesson in patience and accepting God's grace. I feel blessed to be here, healthier and happier than ever!

Many, many milestones
Nov 02, 2008
Being able to take a breath without pain, knowing that all my internal plumbing is in order, getting my staples removed and walking around without being in pain are some of the things I'm grateful for and took for granted before the surgey. I've been blessed to be healing rapidly and losing weight even faster.

Back from the hospital
Oct 25, 2008
Got back from the hospital yesterday and am truely thankful to be home. While the hospital was nice, I didn't get much sleep while there. Between my pressure being high, or them checking my sugar levels, I rarely had a two hour window of time by myself. I woke up after surgery with a ton of regrets. I thought to myself, could I have just dieted more to avoid this pain? Later in the morning Star Jones was hosting House Hunters and she looked beautiful and healthy. I took that as a sign from God saying things will look up soon and this pain will pass.
I'm APPROVED!!!!
Oct 15, 2008
Found out yesterday that I was approved for the surgery. The approval came so quickly. But what came even quicker was the surgery date! Oct. 22nd will be my new birthday!!!!

Initial consult went well...
Jul 13, 2008
I went in for my initial consult on Friday. Dr. Suh was very professional and explained the procedure and his expectations. Although I'd heard all of this in his seminar, hearing it again made it more real when it was face to face. So, next steps include getting all my labs, bloodwork and tests done--along with a psych consult. I hope to get everything knocked out by the 25th of July so I can get my surgery date.
Hanging in here
Jul 10, 2008
I must be from another planet right now. Went in for my initial consult only to find out they had rescheduled me for the next day (they called but I thought it was for another doctor's appointment, arrgghh). It wouldn't really be that big of a deal but I hate driving, especially on the highway (I know, I know...I'm a city girl and I never had to drive so I didn't) and the doctor's office is 35 min. away. Okay, enough gripping. At least the trip wasn't a total waste. I was able to give them all my paperwork, watch the 15 min. informational video, and give them my insurance information. So when I go in tomorrow, all I have to do is breeze in to see Dr. Suh.
Hopefully back on track.

Yesterday I called my insurance company to harass them for a bariatric surgeon close to me to see for my initial consult. I was pleasantly surprised to see the doctor they gave me is well known by the OH community. I see him on July 10th. Wish me luck...I'm so nervous!
Okay, maybe I spoke too soon...

Well, the doctor I'd orginally been referred to wasn't taking new patients. Now I play the waiting game while my insurance company finds another surgeon. I'm trying not to get frustrated, but some days I lose the good fight. Thank god for all the wonderful stories and pictures of those who've been through the surgery. It keeps my hope alive.
