The only thing I like about myself is my personality..Dont like my body or anything. It hurts to see how "BIG" people are treated differently . I just want to be able to smile again. Well, its been a few days since I wrote this statement. My Heavenly Father is showing me how to love myself. I thank God for everyday I have to praise him. I still don't know if my insurance will pay or not. But I have faith that GOD will tell me when I will have the surgery. God has also showed me how to be PATIENT. lol I pray for everyone who has had the surgery and for those who are waiting every night. I believe GOD is guiding the doctors and GOD will take care of us. God bless Everyone.
Well, on March 6,2006...My Dr.'s office called me and told me my insurance will not pay for the surgery. I am very determined to have this surgery done. I am not getting my hopes up. I had my DR. fax my insurance Co and tell them that I really need this surgery. I was told it will take 4 days to get an answer from the insurance medical board. Hopefully I will know by March 13th. I have already started a few things that will help me. NO sodas, NO sugar, PLENTY of WATER, VITAMINS, etc. I need to walk more than I do but the spur on my heal bothers me.....almost to the point of crying. I never knew a spur could hurt so bad. I get tired of my DR telling me losing weight will help all my problems...as if I don't know that already lol. I know in my heart I will get the surgery done, just not sure when.. Pray for me as I pray everyday. I pray for everyone who has had the surgery and for everyone who is trying to have it and for the DR.'s who operate on us. Have a blessed day.
March 16, 2006.... Today, I am still waiting. My DR said if Medicaid pays for the surgery they did on a patient in Jan. 2005, then they will do mine. I called a Hospital that medicaid recommended. I have to start all over with the seminars and the support groups. I am still waiting for my DR here. But I am going to start with another DR April 5, 2006 just in case the surgery fails here. I'm not giving up.
IF ANYONE IS ON TEXAS MEDICAID AND WANT THIS SURGERY, EMAIL ME @ [email protected]. I can give you the phone number to the DIRECTOR OF MEDICAID AND HIS NURSE. She has helped me all this time with getting the right information from the DR's. PLEASE DONT GIVE UP. I WILL HELP AS MUCH AS I CAN. I HAVE BEEN APPROVED THROUGH MEDICAID July 15, 2006

I finally got a date for my PSYCH Evaluation. MAY 2, 2006. Still haven't got my approval through my insurance. I am still working on that. My DR sent medicaid a letter stating it was medically necessary. Now I just have to wait for the Medicaid Director to go over it. I went to gripe at the Financial Department at the hospital. They finally agreed to start the testing. I just told them I am so tired of sitting and waiting. I have been waiting since Feb 13, 2006. I will update after my PSYCH EVAL unless I hear from the Director of Medicaid. NO MATTER WHAT YOU HAVE TO GO THROUGH, DON"T EVER GIVE UP!!!! It is worth everything. It seems like the more I am told NO the more determined I get. I refuse to hear the word no. I get stronger each time.
4-19-06 Today I started walking. I want to get a heads up before surgery. I walked 2 miles.
4-20-06 I walked 1 mile today. Watching what I eat.
4-22-06 Walked 3 miles with my son. My knees was killing me but it felt good to know I walked 3 miles.I want to lose 10-20 pounds before surgery to help me.
4-23-06 walked 1 mile with my daughter. For some reason, everytime I walk, I get a sharp pain in rt side under my ribs.
4-24-06 walked 2 miles. If I walk this much after surgery, I will sweat the pounds off:)
Hope to hear some good news about my surgery.
6-15-06 I was just informed that Scott n White will no longer take medicaid for this surgery due to them putting the wrong code down twice. Their mistake not mine. I WILL NOT give up.
6-22-06 I found another Dr. I have an appt on July 6,2006.
July 6, 2006 I went to meet with Dr.Mason in Bryan , TX. Dr. Mason and his staff are great. I had to wait an extra hour or so due to him having an unexpected surgery. It was worth the wait.He is sending my insurance a Letter of Necessity next week. His staff is great. I was told that they will do everything they can to help me. WOW this was my 1st consultation out of 3 different DR's. Now I am a step closer. Just have testing to do now.

9-13-06 My surgery is in 2 days and my nerves are jumping with excitement. I am a little nervous though. Who wouldnt be. Getting a new life, a new body. Leaving the past in the past and starting a new present. I am ready to go now lol. I have my surgery on the 15th of Sept at 8am. My surgeon is Dr. Mason. He and his staff are awesome. I have lost 32.5 pounds since may. 20.5 of that was lost the last 3 weeks. Please keep me in your prayers.
September 14,2006; I am at my hotel waiting for my surgery. My mom and daughter are here with me. I had a rough morning. My day has gotten better as it goes. I am a little nervous. I'm not sure how to react to getting a new body. lol
I know I am ready just not sure what to expect. I look at photos of me when I was 16. I weighed 180 pounds. Boy, I would loveto get to that weight again. I hope I look good after I lose it. Please keep me in your prayers. It is 230pm. 430 am will get here fast. I dont think I am scared of the thought of surgery. Its the thought of the IV that scares me. lol I do not have good veins. I usually get stuck 2 or more times. I will post after surgery.
Sept. 19, 2006:
I am home from the hospital. Everything went very good. The only pain I had was from the drainage tube. I was told it didnt hurt when it is pulled out. Boy, were they wrong. It hurt like heck for a few min. It feels good to be on the losing side. I weigh in tonite. If I have a loss or gain I will post it. This is my first weigh in since surgery on the 15th. Thanks for all your prayers. I lost 5 1/2 pounds. Yippeeeeee
SEPTEMBER 20, 2006: I am doing good. I am up walking and feel great.
September 22, 2006: I went to the movies with my mom and aunt. Boy, it wore me out. I get tired easy but I feel great. I owe all my THANKS to JESUS. I thank Jesus for showing me to Dr. Mason. May GOD bless him as God has blesed me. Thank you Jesus.

September 23,2006: Doing very good today. I walked farther today. I went to the races tonite.( car races). I had a blast. kinda got a little chilly. I didn't hurt in my incision area, just my butt. LOL Guess I am losing some of it. I still get tired faster than usual. I just can't believe how good I feel 9 days after surgery. Thank you JESUS.
September 24, 2006: Today I tried to drive my car again. Did better but still not ready to drive. Who would believe that I am anxious to walk .lol I get up at 3am ready to go walking. For everyone who is waiting to have this surgery.....I can not, well, just dont know how to explain how you feel inside. I am a totally different person inside and out.Its a good but different feeling. It is like ummm my whole past is gone. All my sadness and anger from being obese, being teased etc is gone. I feel like I have been born again with a totally new life. I waited so long for this. It was worth every second, every minute of every day. I DO NOT regret anything. I thank GOD for the 6 year wait. He showed me that I need to change a few things before surgery. If I would have had it 6 yrs ago, I would not have made it. My advice for everyone wanting this surgery....PRAY, PRAY, PRAY. God will see you through. Even if the wait is long, dont give up. I almost did. I would not have had my surgery if I had. I thought I had patience. GOD proved me wrong. I thought I had the right surgeon. GOD proved me wrong. GOD had a surgeon and a time for me. I just need to be patient. THANK YOU JESUS. I have my 1st weigh in since surgery tomorrow at my DR's visit. Kinda excited to see what I lost from his records.
September 25, 2006: My 1st DR visit was awesome. I weighed 337. I have lost a total of 32 pounds since I first met with Dr. Mason in August of 2006.That means I have lost 13 pounds since last week. I have lost a total of 18 1/2 pounds so far since my surgery. Yippppeee. It feels great to be a loser. I have a friend who is trying to get approved for this surgery. Her name is Melissa. Please keep her in your prayers. She really needs this surgery. Thanks
