Dec 7th 2006

Well the weight is coming off very slowly, but the inches are just dropping.  I saw my GP today to get my test results.  I have dropped on all my bad cholesterol!!!!  My vitamin levels are great, I still don't have to take any iron!! WOOHOO.   He really wants to see me walking everyday for at lest 30min a day plus going to Curves!!!!  He said that should help with my depression as well.  While I was there I showed him a rash I get every winter and he said he could see a difference and can see that I am getting smaller even though the scale has been very slow.  That made me happy.  I am still battling head hunger and eating issues, but that is a one day a time thing.  I try not to beat myself up too much.  I really miss going to meetings as my panic attacks are still bad, I have trouble getting to Curves alone.  I wish there was someone out here that went to Curves that I could meet up with.
I am also depressed on how slow my weight loss has been.  I seem to be able to eat a lot and often.  I don't know how some folks can only eat a spoonful or so at a time!!! I so have to watch out with what I eat and to stay away from junk!!

Well all for now

Well it has been quite awhile since I have posted anything new.  I now weigh 178.  It has been very slow at losing.  I seem to read how the pounds just melt off most people but not me. At 4 months I also feel I can way too much and really have to watch how much and what I eat.  I don't dump on anything and I really needed that.  I am seeing a counselor for my eating. It is very easy to become bulimic I find.  My health has improved so much and I have a lot of energy as well.  I just joined curves last week so I hope my weight loss will pick up again.

My Journey

Nov 09, 2006

I first saw Dr. Amson Sept of 2004. I weighed 220 pounds. I had just found out I was type 2 diabetes and had sleep apnea. I was worried that I would not qualify for surgery, but Dr. Amson did not see any reason for me not to have the surgery. I had to go see a few specialists that he insists on and passed the entire tests so I am good to go for surgery. Dr Amson also wants all his patients to work out the best you can and to join a lot of walk/run fundraisers :)

I was finally given a surgery date August 3rd 2006!! I have dropped 15 pounds since I first saw him and gained 5 back. Well all for now.

July 19 06
Well it is getting closer to my surgery date and all is going well. I had my pre-op visit with my GP all looked good. On Monday I head to Victoria for all the pre-op testing at the hospital. I am also having a last dinner there.
Time seems to be moving kinda fast right now. Lots of things to get ready before surgery. I have to get my dogs groomed this weekend!!! I am feeling calm about having my surgery, my last fat summer.
till next time

My Surgery Story

Well I got to Victoria on the 2nd and started my bowel prep at 2:30. YUK YUK YUK!!
It finally stopped by 8:30pm and started up again at 3:30am!! We stayed at the Traveller Inn, nice place. I was the first person at the hospital on the 3rd 15min early. Right at 6am they took me to the pre-op area and had me changed and drugged J. At about 7:30 they took me in to waiting area for surgery. It was quite busy in there. When my time came they took me to OR 13!!!! Good start J Dr. Amson came in and said hi and next thing I knew I was in recovery. I had lost my voice for a bit. I was taken up to my room in 3 Royal and just wanted to go for a walk. The nurse thought I was nuts. She did let me stand up, no dizziness!! Dr. Amson came by my room and said all went great, I asked him how Sheila did and he said she did fine too, I then tried to sleep for the rest of the day. I had 2 roommates who had lots of visitors that drove me nuts. I did get up and walked the halls a bit on my own. Aug 4th at about 10:30 went for the lovely leak test. YUK YUK YUK. Thankfully it went fast. At about 3ish the nurse said I passed and brought me in some water, she also took out my catheter and drain tube. My nurse Debbie warned me that the stuff we have to drink for the leak test would give you diahreaa and it sure did. It still has not stopped.
We missed the lunch trays. Had some broth for supper. Aug 5th I was allowed to go home. Sheila and I spoke with Dr. Amson on the phone as he was heading out for the rest of the weekend and was not coming back coming to the hospital. Dr. Amson said I could go home either Sat or Sunday so I took Sat. I packed my little bag and left. Sheila was just waiting for her nurse to tell her she could leave. I had great nurses every one of them were awesome!! It doesn’t feel like I had much done. It just feels like I have been kicked in the gut. I have 5 little poke holes that are healing just great. At the hospital I was walking a ton. Here at home not so much, hard to go down the street when you have run to the bathroom all the time still.

Well I went and saw my GP today, I am down 14 pounds!!!!!! YEAH, not much to some, but lots for me. I have lost a couple of inches off my bust, hips and even an inch off my neck!! I had a rough day today, got the poops for no reason. Maybe from my IBS. My GP still only wants me walking. No pool yet until all my scabs are healed well. He doesn't want me to get an infection. No weight lifting yet either. He is very please with my progress so far with my diabetes and blood pressure.

The first dump
Stupid me I can only blame myself. I went to my Nephew's wedding reception tonight and eat way too much. I ate healthy, seafood salad, little cheese, chicken and a small amount of roast beef. Then it was dessert time. I had a couple of spoon fulls of chocolate mousse!! My fav and I had a 1/4 glass of wine for the toasts. Well I don't know if it was the booze or the chocolate but I had water running down my back, I felt dizzy and just wanted to throw up!!! We ended up having to leave the party I didn't want to pass out in there!! I am not going to kick myself and feel sorry for myself because I know tomorrow is a new day and I won't be eating like that for a very, very long time!!!!!

Aug 24th 2006
I went and had my 3 week check up with my GP and he has cut my metformin to only a half a pill 2x a day!! Soon I will be off the diabetes meds for good!! I have been given the ok for swimming and still have to wait till next week to see if I can start going to the gym.
Yesterday was my birthday, gosh I am getting old but starting to feel young again. I also had my first WOW moment. I went to put my bra on and I now have to do it up on the next set of hooks :) Some of my pants are getting baggy in the bum area too. I am down 17 pounds so far!!! YEAH!!!!
