The only time I will use this term -- "ONEderland"!!!

May 10, 2012

I know may people find it hokey to use the term "onederland", and I swore I never would once I got here, but the excitement and pride that I feel for having gotten here makes me have to use it just this once!  For the first time in 4 years I am finally here again -- I am down 32 lbs, now weighing at  198, and have lost just over 32 inches!  Today is a wonderful day!

First NSV

Apr 21, 2012

I woke up this lovely Saturday morning at 9:30 to the sound and smell of my mate and my son having waffles in the kitchen.  When he realized I was awake, my mate crawled into bed for a cuddle and put his arm across my stomach.  He then lifted his head, lifted his arm, put it down across me again; squeezed and said "You're shrinking!  I can totally feel the difference!"

It was at this point that I also realized I could feel the pressure of his arm on my hip bone.  I don't remember the last time I was aware of having hip bones -- maybe 3 years ago?!  Pretty freaking marvelous, I tell you!  And not a bad start to the weekend!

On another note, I found http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.ca/ , which for a foodie like me is like food porn!  It was SO exciting to see that once I am past the full liquids stage, I have yummy options for the none-too=pleasant "mushies stage".  The options for soft and regular high protein low carb' foods are so huge, and I never would have reaized it had I not found "Shelly's" blog! It really is so encouraging to know that I am still going to be able to enjo cooking, and the products of my labours, and the freshness of good ingredients throughout this journey and for the rest of my life!  Hurray for eggface!

Finally Sleeved!

Apr 15, 2012

I finally got my sleeve on April 10th in Mexical Mexico with Dr. Aceves!  It's now 5 day later (can that really be all?) and I m able to stand up straight without much pain, and have some tenderness around where my drain was, but otherwise I feel pretty good.  I did notice yesterday that I am cold all the time, which I attribute to the low caloric intake that the clear liquids stage allows.

All I can say about my surgeon and the faciity is that it was everythng that i have read on thes eboards and more!  Dr. Aceves and his staff are just remarkable, and I don't think I've seen a cleaner medical facility anywhere that I have ever been.  I was very lucky to make a new friend while there, who had her sleeve the same day as me, and so it will be interesting to compare notes with her as we go along our journey.

This is all pretty exciting!  I just can't wait to see what the coming months will bring!
