So, it seems to be working!

Apr 25, 2008

I am 16 days out of surgery and as of today I have lost 45 pounds!   But I have decided that if anyone, ever, tries to tell me that this was "the easy way" that I will have no qualms whatsoever about punching them right in the face.   These have been the hardest 16 days of my life.  Luckily, I'm not in pain anymore, but it was pretty bad in the beginning.  So was the liquid diet. Now I am on pureed foods, which is better, but not good.  I've thrown up twice from eating "too fast" which is still slower than what a normal person eats.  Drinking water can make me feel sick.  My liquid vitamins taste like vomit in a bottle, but that is an upgrade from the chewables.  I cry pretty much on a daily basis (but I've read that the surgery messes with your hormones, so hopefully I'll calm down soon).  I miss normal food.  Not even "bad" food, just normal. I'd kill for a salad.  And there are about a bajillion and 17 food commercials on TV.  They make me want things I don't even like...like Red Lobster shrimp fest or whatever.  Plus I always feel wiped out.   But today when I saw I'd lost 45 pounds, I remembered why I did this and that going through all of the crap is worth it!  Plus, I'm not diabetic anymore, so that makes me happy.  The last time I was weighed was Monday, and I'd only lost 32 then. So I lost 13 lbs between Monday and today. I'm losing an average of 2.8 lbs a day.  It won't stay this way, but I hope it does for as long as possible!
