I have been trying hard to lose weight on my own and I want to make sure I am able to not have diabetes anymore. Let me give you a little background here. I am about to turn 26 (April 6th), married(7 yrs this May), and have 2 kids: 6 years and 13 months. Yeah its kind of a gap I know! I knew that diabetes ran bad on my mothers side of the family, and since she didn't have it I wasn't really concerned about it until I was pregnant w/my 1st daughter. In the 3rd trimester the doctors discovered gestational diabetes. I was like, "okay so I have it when I'm pregnant then it will go away." Little did I know that it developed into type 2 w/out my knowledge or symptoms. My husband and I were trying for the 2nd and well, I had a blood test done before I was pregnant and they told me I was fine. I don't even know why they said that, and for $200.00 they should of had a detailed summary. lol So then I was pregnant probably 2 months later. And lo and behold they do the bloodwork and I have type 2 diabetes. And of course it was done by a different dr in another county altogether! Go figure...the H 1 C is profiled for 3 months. I dunno folks that nurse may not have known what was going on and needed to go back to school or something! At least they have a pregnancy Medi-cal for folks like me. I was way overweight, and I was starting to lose weight then got pregnant. Thats usually how it goes. I was 285 I think (I stopped asking at some point and closing my eyes) and I had another baby girl. Had some problemos like having her way early when I should have at least gone @ 38 weeks but 35-37 were estimated b/c I was losing fluid. I drank so much water but it was still did no good. Since and before then I have tried of course the diabetic diet, low-carbs, Atkins, 3-day diet; you know that one where you eat a hot dog and broccoli and beets! <------- I totally HATE beets, diet and exercise, diet pills like: Metabolife, Green Tea, Lipovarin, Fat Blockers, Carb Blockers and Relacore. I mean yes, Winsor Pilates, Taebo, walking two miles a day to take my daughter to school, then walking on my treadmill, (which is very soothing for me I love it) with inclining changed my butt after 5 months arrrrrg! Out of all that and to lose a measly 13 pounds which no doubt have came back. If not now its on the rise; But digressing to now -- I no longer have Medi-cal. I can't stand that b/c its always going off of your income. And what can I say? It fluctuates. So now I am on to finding an insurance that will accept that I have type 2 diabetes. I have been searching like crazy and wow it gets discouraging and I don't have insurance yet. I look only on the provider to make sure my dr is on there, I mean it doesn't make sense when you already have one. The only thing I am bouncing with is waiting for my husband's HMO Blue Shield or just going ppo regularly. Has anyone else had this problem? Suggestions will be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!! I will let ya know whats going on, on a later date!
