Londa Bovard
I was nine when I started getting heavy. My mother worked and my great aunt babysat us. She had two boys of her own and as teenagers, they were morbidly obese. She believed that if you were not fat, you were not healthy. Now that was just her philosophy for others. She was on every diet known to man to keep from getting fat, and she took all types of diet aides. But...everyone else around her had to be fat.
Anyway...I started getting fat at nine and picked up so many bad habits that followed me into adulthood, that I just kept slowly but surely ballooning in size until I reached my heaviest weight at 486lbs. I cried when, after two years of not stepping foot on a scale, I got on a scale and had reached that staggering size. I knew I was big, but honestly, I never dreamed I was that big.
I started fighting for the laproscopic RNY two years ago. A very long, very hard fought battle with Indiana Medicaid. My doc, Dr. Dana Lindsay, is just wonderful and so is her staff. She fought just as hard for me to get the surgery. I thank God for her, her people, and her skills everyday.
I feel like I have lost a whole person now that I have lost over 200 lbs since my ReBirthday on August 16, 2007.
