Need reasurance

Hi,
My name is Susan. I am a 43 year old mom of 3 and married for 21 years. I have been obese sence the birth of my first child which has been now 20 years. As a youth I was fit and nicely built. I really want to be the nicely built, fit person I once was but I am not sure of the Lap Band. I agree it is safer then the other surgeries but I can't seem to find a good doctor in my area, Jacksonville, Florida. I did talk to one doctors office person on my first visit but did not get to talk to the doctor. I was not happy with there office staff and have sence just been putting off going to another office. I don't want to treated as "Just another pataint".
