I currently live in North Carolina with my husband of 9 years and our furbabies (a boxer mix named Roscoe and a Poodle mix named Sampson)   I really started gaining in my early 20's,  not really understanding why since I was working out and eating what I should have been eating.   I continued to gain into my 30's when I was finally diagnosed with Insulin Resistant Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome.  The insulin sensitizer the docs put me on stopped the weight gain,  but I was not able to actually lose any of what I'd already put on.  Didn't even consider WLS because I already  didn't lose when I went without eating now ,  I figured,  what difference would it make if my starving was surgically induced?    So I went on to eat whatever I wanted and another several years went by.  I didn't gain more weight but I did make friends with a couple of new co-morbidities like diabetes,  kidney disease, high blood pressure and cholesterol.    but then I was doing some PCOS research one day and I came across a medical study showing how WLS was helping to relieve  PCOS and Diabetes symptoms!  What??  I think I heard the angels sing!!!      Set up an appointment for a seminar shortly after that and more than a year later (thanks to snags in insurance requirements, and a psychologist who was  a a total wingnut)  I have my surgery scheduled.    October 13, 2009.
I am beyond excited!!   I am sooooo looking forward to the day when I can toss my medications,  cross my legs and wear my beautiful high heels again!!  ;-)  (hey,  a girls gotta have her priorities!)
More than anything,  and I hate to over simplify things,  I just want to feel GOOD again.
My hubby had the surgery 7 weeks ago and he has lost more than 70 lbs so far!  He's the amazing melting man right now!   I'm so  glad we'll be doing this together (even if he DID get a head start ;-)
