Surgery 02/13/2013
Feb 17, 2013
Doctor said surgery was typical with no issues. When I got to recovery, I guess the morphine started messing with my blood pressure so it was all over the low side and going crazy. But after 5 hours in recovery and it not getting any better, the nurses started winging me off morphine and changed over to something else, not sure??? Then rest of the night was uneventful. Theres a little pain, but nothing I can't handle with a little liquid lortab!!! ha! Had surgery about noonish and was sitting on the edge of the bed at midnight and got up to the side of the bed by myself. So the pain for me was not bad....more of a pulling than a pain. So that was all on Tuesday, then on Thursday, my blood count was low but with no symptoms...so they kept me until Friday and it rose some, so they figured it was my normal, plus surgery, fluids, etc. So I came home, I am doing things on my on as I live alone. So far so good! Very excited to get things going. Liquids are slow but continuous.
PreOp Diet
Feb 09, 2013
Well, today I start my 3 day liquid diet! Breakfast, lunch and dinner is a meal replacement and 3 snacks which are protein drinks, low fat yogurt, or low sodium broths. I can also have some sugar free jellos and sugar free popsicles. This ought to be interesting! Tuesday is the day!!!.
UPDATE: Liquid diet hasn't been too bad, but it is only 3 days. Tomorrow is the day!!! Very excited!!! ![]()

Well today was a prep class!!! OMG lots to learn and remember. Surgery will be Feb. 12.Tomorrow I start a diet, lots of protein shakes, but I can still have 2-4 oz. meat and 1/2 cups veggies until 3 days before surgery! That day I go all liquids. Guess I am lucky, some people are doing 2 week liquid diets. So, I am on my way.....
Surgery Date!!!
Jan 14, 2013
My date is Feb. 12. Today at the doctor, I had blood work done, Chest x-ray, had a lot of questions asked, received a lot of paper work, and I also had a EKG. So on the 31st of Jan., I go in for Prep Classes; there I will spend 3 hours talking with the doctor, dietitian, and a nurse from the hospital. All so exciting and not nervous as of yet! I got home today and was checking on my medications to make sure I can get them in liquid form or tablet to crush. Made sure my blood thinner shots would be covered. Working on checking to see if the B12 shots will be covered. Lots to think about and get ready!!!
