4 Month Check-up w/ labs
Nov 27, 2010
Had my latest dr's appt on Tuesday and it was a nice as the last one. My iron TRIPLED, which is phenomenal because I was extremely low prior to surgery. I was at 27 and moved up to 89 after surgery! I still have a ways to go, but this means I'm doing things right. I have to bump up my Vit D, so I've added more with my calcium. I'll go back in 2 months and do it all over again.
This time, I weighed 220 which means a loss of 52 pounds in 4 months (how cool!), and a loss of 18 since my last appointment. I found that 17.5 of those pounds were from fat loss alone. Sweet! I'm enjoying the slow and steady loss because I just didn't look forward to dropping tons right away and not having a chance to get used to it. Sounds strange, but I've never been thin my entire life, so I don't want to rush into it.
I'm now on to my oldest clothes, which are size 18 (from a 22/24 pants and 3X tops). I'm running out of those, but plan to wear everything until I positively can't any longer. I'll only buy 2 pairs of pants at a time because I don't want to waste money on something I'll be out of soon enough.
Off to see my sister, mom and aunt this next weekend for a girls trip. We're heading off to Treasure Island and staying Friday through Monday. I haven't seen my sister or aunt since surgery, and my mom since the end of September. I definitely have changed since then, so it will be fun.

8 Week Check-up
Sep 22, 2010
Wow. And I thought I needed to be worried about my progress after being stalled in weight for 4 weeks. At my 8 week appointment, I am down 32 pounds (have been since week 4). HOWEVER, my dr. said according to the magical scale readings, I lost THIRTY POUNDS of fat since I'd seen him last, 6 weeks ago, and gained 8 pounds of muscle!! WOO-HOO!!!! So, I am getting plenty of calories, which I was very worried about, and my exercise program of walking around work (very large high school campus) and 30 min of light aerobic exercise with toning 3 times a week is working very well! I really couldn't be happier!! YIPPEE for my RNY!!!

One Month Post-Op
Aug 28, 2010
Well, I couldn't be happier!! One month out from surgery and I'm progressing so very well! As of today, I have lost 26 pounds and 20.75 inches from neck to calves! I was able to get my old jeans out of the closet yesterday and actually put them on all the way and button them! I was so happy that my thighs weren't pushing to maximum density and found out the reason was I lost FOUR inches from them over this month. SWEET!!
Real food is becoming easier to eat now. I'm expanding my menu and am cooking for the family again. I've been going to EggFace for lots of recipes that my boys would also enjoy. So happy she's there!! Still supplementing protein drinks between meals to keep my protein between 75-95 per day. Getting in all of my water plus extra. Vitamins are going well, but I have to order more at the end of the month. I'm actually using pill form right now because I'm out of the chewables.
Back to work two weeks ago and all has gone well. I found that I was extremely exhausted by the middle of the week and discovered it was my B12 that was wearing off. I have the nose spray and it really gives an incredible boost to my energy for the first few days of the week, but then it turns for the worse to where I don't even want to get up. SO, I'm going to be taking B12 supplements along with the nose spray to get my levels up.
I'm really loving my RNY!!

Hello, friends!
Jul 31, 2010
I'm still here and doing well! Sorry for the lapse in messages, but I've been fighting the dizzyness and found that reading doesn't work out to well. My doctor called again this morning to see how I was getting along and said the dizziness will get better when I actually start getting some protein in. Since I'm basically starving myself the past two weeks, my body has gone into WTH mode and just isn't functioning right. Anyway, I'm getting there! Now fighting a bit of a sore throat, which he told me was quite normal with the scopes and such that were stuck down there for almost 5 hours.
Drinking is going okay. I'm getting at least 45-60 oz in per day right now, so I'm really proud of that one. I"m suffering from severe gas bubbles and even my spit was full of bubbles! How awful!! The doctor told me to start taking the Gas X strips and did so within an hour of talking to him. WOW!! I'm never leaving home without these things!!
My hubby, mom and son have gone over the top in taking care of me!! My hubby has helped me shower, gotten me anything I need, makes sure everything is okay (many times a day), and has showered me with love. My mom has been here for a week and has helped out with everything around the house, has also showered me with love and care, and has taken care of the cooking for my boys. I could NOT have done this without them!!!
Well, I'm going to get going here. Hope everyone is doing great!!! Best wishes and God bless!!

End of day 5 Pre-op diet
Jul 23, 2010
I don't know why I can't go to sleep right now. Been up on the OH site and shopping for vitamins. MAN! Those things are expensive!! Anyway, I'm holding up well and am still drinking my clear liquids and taking my vitamins with nothing else. At least I'm used to it for my first week after surgery. Plus, I've lost 8 pounds so far! Good night! I'm really going to try and get some sleep now.

Pre-op diet: Day 2
Jul 20, 2010
WOW! What a difference a day makes! Today was soooo much easier than yesterday. Still crave things every once in a while, but I just drink a bunch and it goes away for a bit. Only 5 more days of this!!! Of course, I have found that liquid equals liquid out. Yikes! Almost didn't make it to the bathroom yesterday AND today. Hopefully, tomorrow will be just as easy!!

Pre-op diet: Day 1
Jul 19, 2010
Holy crow. This is not so easy! I've been so conditioned to go and grab food at any time that I've caught myself in the pantry a couple of times already. Yikes! No slip-ups, so I'm all good. However, I feel like I could just float away! Broth, juice, popsicles, and jello are keeping me alive!! Only 6 1/2 days left!!!

TWO WEEKS FROM TODAY!!
Jul 12, 2010
WOW!! I'm only two weeks from having the surgery that will change my life forever!! It is still quite surreal at this point, but I'm getting more butterflies as the days tick away. Wonder if I'll get butterflies in my new pouch?!?! Funny to think about.
I'm on the last day of my sister and niece's visit, which was just fantastic! Time with mom and dad on the east coast, a few days at Disney, and then back to the west coast for more fun in the sun! Now, it will be time to get down to business and prepare myself for the upcoming event...
I plan on getting my list of items together for my pre-op diet of clear liquids. Thank goodness that's only for one week! Then for one week after surgery and then on to full liquids for a week. I'm sure that runny cream of wheat will taste like the best thing in the world when I get to have it!!
Wish me luck!!
