Easton Hospital

"The Bariatric surgery staff has so much respect for Dr. Koren, that they are all so willing to take extra good care of his patients. Too, he treats them with the utmost respect, which is really great to see. Mandy Nyce is the Bariatric Surgery Coordinator, and knowing that she would have an integral role in my pre and post-op care was a determining factor in my selecting Dr. Koren. She should be given a raise! One special nurse -- Brian, who worked the 7:30PM to 7:30AM shift. He was absolutely wonderful to me. Responsive, professional, fun, caring and brought the whole staff in to my room at 6:15AM on 12/15, to sing Happy Birthday to me. It was my birthday and he wanted to make it even more special. He is a gem and I hope that Easton Hospital realizes that."

James Koren

"I had my first meeting with Dr. Koren yesterday. My husband, Bill, came with me, at my request. First impressions: considerate, respectful of my concerns, warm, caring, thorough, informative, unrushed, competent. I felt at ease and certain that I'd selected the right surgeon for me. His staff was courteous, professional, and helpful. I've also met Mandy Nyce, the Bariatric Surgery Coordinator from Easton Hospital. What an incredible woman! Warm, funny, empathetic, helpful, professional. Dr. Koren did a PowerPoint presentation, thoroughly covering all aspects of WLS, including: risks, benefits, aftercare, etc. He stressed the importance of aftercare and the patient's committment to following what's needed to lose weight, stay healthy and keep the weight off. He has a complete aftercare follow-up program, including support group meetings. I personally need not only surgical comptetence AND good bedside manner, but also a sense of humor! Dr. Koren has all of these. I have only one negative thing to say ...I hated the music that was playing in his office. ...possibly heavy metal. I would have preferred 'soothing'!!"
