Stacebase
My name is Stacey and I'm from Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, Canada. I have pretty much struggled with my weight for all of my adult life. During high school, I was never the "skinny" one, but looking back, I wasn't overweight. I was 150 lbs. My weight fluctuated between 165 and 190 during university. I was not happy with it, but I guess I settled for that weight....at least I could still buy regular clothes at most stores!!! When I got pregnant in January of 2003, I weighed 211 pounds. My weight went up to 257 at the end of my pregnancy (Kyle was 10lbs 14 ounces). I did end up losing 30 pounds after he was born. About a year after he was born. I joined Herbal Magic. I spent about $5000 in 8 months to lose 40 pounds and then gain it all back. It was my fault for not sticking to the program, but it became way too expensive to maintain. In the past 5 years, I have joined weight watchers about 5 times and Herbal Magic another time. Nothing seemed to work. I know it had to do with my lack of willpower. This is why I turned to WLS.
My sister Angelle was in the same boat as me. She had struggled with her weight for all of her adult life as well. We would both diet and plan to exercise together and make big plans to lose weight together. We usually discussed this over supper at one of our favorite restaurants. Of course, we would make the plan and never fully follow through with it. In 2006, we found out about the lapband surgery. We went to a meeting describing the lapband in Tijuana. At the time though, neither one of us were financially able to afford it. So, we put it on the backburner for a few years. We had always had the surgery in the back of our minds.
This past winter we were both in a spot where we could financially afford to go ahead with the surgery. Upon researching, we found Dr. Almanza and booked the lapband surgery for January 5th, 2010. Our patient coordinator, Melissa Bracker, ended up giving us some references here in Saskatchewan. That's when we talked to Sarah and found out about the sleeve. After some quick research, we both changed our minds and went ahead with the sleeve and haven't looked back.
It's been just over 3 weeks and I have lost 30 pounds. I have stalled at this weight for about 10 days, which is extremely frustrating. I've been told that it's normal though. I can't wait for these pounds to keep falling off of me. My jeans are really baggy :) Updates to keep coming!!
