I have been overweight all my life. I attended the Pediatric obesity clinic at 6 yrs old. I have tried all diets and lost weight too! Four years ago I had Lap Band surgery . I lost weight at first but soon stopped. I went back to the surgeon and he directed me to another surgeon. I then put together a team to work with me . It means a lot to me to be healthy and I know I need help.So I found a Nutritionist , Counselor , joined the GYM and found a new Primary care Physician.I had a Upper GI done had a fill and a day later could not swallow my own saliva! I had the fill removed . I had a new Port inserted .The Band had slipped , I had a Hiatal Hernia and esphagitis and that was the problem.I must say for all of the OH members that have LAPBANDs and are doing well CONGRATULATIONS .The band did not work with me and I did my share.Well the Nutritionist was fine at first but when I said I want to have OPEN RNY she kept saying no. Well who is she to say no an adult who has been thru what I have been thru! So I have been doing my vitamins building my self up ans YES I have gained weight since the Band was removed 1/2/08.I had a mammogram done 3/08- ended up having a breast biopsy ( thank GOD all is well!) , I have seen the cardiologist,Pulmonologist,had the sleep study,had the stress test , colonoscopy and endoscopy.I Even went to a Psychologist .,Now I went to A NEW nutritionist and she IS aware of what she should be educating me about ( pre op diet ,post op diet etc) but I have to keep reminding her to talk about it ! Needless to say I have researched all the information myself, but this woman is not working out and I have seen her 3x!. I have found another Nutritionist.I have some blood work done by my PCP and he directed me to a Rheumatologist who sent me to a Hematologist/Oncologist! I have had a skeletal study , more labs and 2 BONE MARROWS! I have "smoldering Multiple Myeloma" basically I don't have Multiple Myleloma YET! ALL I DID WAS HAVE ALL THE TESTS DONE SO I CAN HAVE OPEN RNY! I have no children and am not married.My Brother and sister in law as well as my two nieces live within 5 miles of me and are aware of the issues I have with the BAND and WERE very supportive.My sister lives out of state and is ALWAYS supportive .PROBLEM - Brother and sister In law DO NOT WANT ME to have OPEN RNY!!
