My surgery was on the 27th of July. No problems, except trouble with having low BP. I was in the hospital for 2 nights. Those nights were terrible. My back is shot and having to lay in that hospital bed was not fun, but the staff was wonderful. Since I have been home I have lost 30lbs and loving it.

Do I regret surgery, no way. I would recommend it to anyone that has had problem with their weight. I thank God everyday for being able to have this new tool to help control my weight, health.

My Journey

Feb 24, 2007

My consult was on Dec. 7, 2006 with Dr. Evanson at ST. Vincent Carmel Hospital in Carmel, IN. I live in Newburgh, IN which is about 4 hours away. It was very interesting and confirmed everything that I had read and researched. The dr. said I was a good canidate for the RNY surgery. So now I had to do the psych eval. I tried to get my psychitrist to do the process but she did not want to do it. So I had to make an appt with their doctor and pay for the 3 hour testing. This appt. was on Jan 25, 07.  I received a letter in the mail three weeks later with the results of the evaluation process. I have to meet at least twice monthly for a minimum of three months with my current therapist to work on some goals. There are four goals, I have already made improvements on two of those goals starting two months before the eval and the other goals are to  contrl emotional eating , stress management skills. not too hard since I have been working on these. The week of Feb 26 they should be calling to set up a surgery date, I can't wait.
