This is the first opportunity I've had to write about my WLS. I arrived at the hospital at 5:45 a.m. They sent me to pre-op, where I was given a gown, a Xanax, and a shot of heperyn. (sp) I was then taken to another waiting area, where I was greeted by a nurse and the anesthesiologist. He inserted my IV, then explained things he would be doing, during my surgery. At 7:25 a.m. they wheeled me into the operating room, where I had 2 anesthesiologits & 2 nurses, up at my head. The anesthesiologist was administering some meds into my IV, then they started asking me about where I would like to go. A trip someplace. I told them to CANCUN! So, each of the nurses were holding my hands and leaning into me, while the 2 anesthesiologists were at my head. They brought the mask around for me to breathe in, saying, "here we go to Cancun,Sonya". The nurses were holding onto me, rubbing on my hands to comfort me... as I fell asleep.
I woke up in recovery, feeling fine. Of course, the most good looking man is there to take care of me during recovery!!! I swear! You're wearing a surgical hat, plus can you imagine?! UGH! Anyway, he was a sweetheart & took great care of me, until I was a wake enough to be transported to my room. I got to my room around 12:30. My Mom & my sister arrived shortly after. I had very little pain, thanks to the anesthesia. By 5:30 p.m. I was up out of bed and walking on my own. Of course it was just a small walk, but I did it! Down the hallway! I walked everyday I was in there. They were able to discharge me a day early, because I was doing so well.
My overall experience has been AWESOME. No regrets!!
