Hi!
This is the beginning of my WLS journey! I'm so many emotions mostly excited! I want to document this so that I can remember where I've come from and because it has meant so much to me as I've been considering this option to hear from real people their experiences. Coming to websites like this and reading the joy and the struggles has been a big part of making my decision to pursue WLS.
Coming to this decision..
I've thought about WLS for years I would have to say at least 5 years. About 4 yrs ago I had my primary doc file paperwork trying to get my insurance to cover it due to medical necessity. Unfortunately I work for a very small company and it is excluded. So I gave up. I started making some serious changes in my lifestyle. I saw how I turned to food and other "things" to cope or not cope as it may be and joined some support groups. I tried OA and gave up sugar and did my best to work the program but did not succeed. Finally people were placed in my life that had WLS and a new door was opened for me. I began learning thru them what they have been thru and where they are today. Intrigued again and hopeful I attended 2 seminars with 2 different friends. I found out I could access money for a "medical" necessity that I was saving and somehow this whole things started looking possible! I really felt comfortable at the 2nd seminar and really connected with one of the doctors. So I have my first appointment in 2 days!
I'm anxious and excited to get this process underway. I'm so grateful for blogs like these so that I can see from real people the ups and downs. I know that this is going to take a lot of effort on my part and I want to make sure my eyes are always open. I'm ready and willing!!!
