First Blog Post - saying GOODbye to BAD food.
Nov 01, 2011
Countdown - 15 days until surgery!
Today is it, the last day before my 2 week pre-op diet. Full liquids only. Ho-lee-crap. My nerves regarding this stage of the journey are equal to my nerves about complications and ickiness post-surgery. I've been preparing myself, testing different protein shake combos, stocking up on SF popsicles and jello. I plan to keep myself as busy as humanly possible because boredom triggers bad eating for me. The weather is finally turning a bit cooler here in South Florida, so it may be the perfect time to start walking after work.
I have been on somewhat of a "Farewell Tour" with certain foods. Happily, I gave up all carbonated drinks 2 months ago and have been successful! But I do get these lingering thoughts (i.e. well, last time you'll taste real ice cream...at least for a while). But right after I think that, the same voice in my head tells me that it's not a forever thing. Some months from now, if I truly want to, I can taste ice cream again. Somehow, knowing that really curbs the panic feeling that comes with the NO ICE CREAM FOREVER thoughts cause. In general, I don't like being told NEVER. It triggers some sort of bad emotional response for me, and I believe that is why all diets have failed me.
My hope is that while I will be able to have ice cream again one day, I won't want to.
So, today I am saying GOODbye to BAD food - we're taking a break, which I hope will lead to a break up. Tomorrow, I have a date with 3-4 protein shakes and some jello (hussy that I am...)
Until next time,
