I am a 34 year old that has struggled with being overweight since entering high school. I was very outgoing and participated in many extra-curricular activities, even sports. It did not matter how often I worked out, I just kept blossoming...I hit 200 pounds in college, and married ten years ago at 225. I was comfortable in my marriage and felt that he fell in love with me fat, I would just be "fat and happy"....what a lie ! When we decided to have a baby, we struggled for a few years.... not realizing the weight was the issue. With a litlle medical help, I did get pregnant and gave birth 3-1/2 years ago....at a whopping 280 pounds! I just knew that keeping up with a baby and chasing around a toddler would help me shed some of the weight....wrong again. I began looking into WLS about a year ago, and caught a lucky break when my company was bought out by a major building material conglomerate, whose insurance covers the surgery. Since I was an acquisition add, I did not have any waiting period or pre-existing exclusions. So since April it has been full steam ahead getting approved, pre-op, and finally having a date. And I am lucky again, as my husband's 14 year old daughter has recently moved in with us, and she is a great help. Her mother had RNY about 4 years ago, so she knows the ropes. She is my #1 supporter!
