I'm the oldest of 6 and the only one who is overweight. I was always "heavy" as a child and teen, but not overweight. I've been obese for 15 years. Like so many others I have tried everything from counting calories, fasting, eating weird combinations of food (2 apples a day and vegetable broth), diet pills, medically supervised liquid diets...

I also have severe fibromyalgia and chronic fatigue syndrome. Of course all of my ills are being blamed on my weight, but I was ot overweight when I started having widespead pain. I have to take pain meds, sleep meds, and sometimes steroids every day. Also, the rheumatologist also thinks I have rheumatoid arthritis or lupus based on medical history and systemic inflammation since 2001.

I work as a social worker - nothing else to say about that except I have great benefits as a civil servant (and I also am grateful to help those in need.) I am building a private practice as a pastoral psychotherapist. It slow going thus the reason I have kept my social work. It's like living in two worlds.

In 2007 hubby had RnY without many complaints. He says he feels tired easily. I would rather have DS because of all the medication I have to take and because I'd rather not have the pouch to deal with. I've been considering WLS since 04, but I am now going to forward.

I began investigating WLS surgery in 2004. On Jan 24, 2009 I took my first committed step to WLS by attending a seminar with Dr. Troy LaMar. Although he does RnY, I will consult with him so that I can compare what he has to say with what Dr. Keshishian says. I started this process at a weight of 238lbs, but my highest weight was nearly 260lbs at 5ft.
