Dawna P.
I've been overweight most of my life. I was frequently told I carry my weight well since I 'use' to be very muscular and built 'sturdy'. I reached my highest weight this year with 246lbs. I was 237lbs. when I got pregnant with my daughter in 1998. Almost 10 years later I weigh about the same, but I'm much fluffier. I've have severe Sleep Apnea, high cholesterol, and borderline high blood pressure. I started this journey once before about 5 yrs ago, but didn't follow through because I wasn't sure it was God's will for me to have the surgery. I've decided that God wants me to be healthy.
About three years ago I changed health providers and my new doctor did not want to refer me for WLS. He said to try diet and exercise. Hmmm?!?!? Why didn't I think of that?! Two years later, afterI tried again. My sister and I have the same Dr. and he referred her for the surgery after seeing how hard she was trying to loose weight and how much pain she was in. She encouraged me to try again. I called and requested a referral too! I didn't get his blessings but I did get a referral and started over in June 08. Thanks SIS! I attend orientation, the first step, in August 08. From there, it went so fast I postponed my surgery until November 08. It was also do to all the prior committments in October and I need more time to prepare.
