I'm 39 years old and have been looking into WLS for 3 years now. I've attended 2 seminars with Midwest Bariatrics in Neenah, WI. I work for the state of WI and my current insurance exlcudes bariatric surgery. Each time open enrollment comes around I chicken out. I have finally decided now is the time. I am at my all time high weight wise and am unable to do things I could 75# ago. I've always been obese. Since 3rd grade. Always the fat girl with such a great personality and pretty face. I've had a couple of relationships - both dysfunctional - weight being an issue I believe. I have a 8 year old son and I want to be able to play with him. I am too big to do so now. It makes me sad that he has to play ball with grandma (thank Goddess for her though) because mom gets worn out just standing there.

I have gone to Midwest Bariatrics and have had all the paperwork sent in to my insurance company. It was denied of course being that it is an excluded benefit. I knew it would be. I am signing up for the expensive plan with the State insurance in October. Hopefully once they send it in in January I will be able to get my surgery scheduled right away.
I am scared of "going under". I've never been put out for surgery before and it scares me. I am also worried about having to have open surgery instead of laprascopic. I've been interested in the VSG but there are not a lot of surgeons in WI that do that type of surgery. I am planning on having Roux en Y.
I notice that not alot of people are on this site from WI. I wish I could find more who have had surgery with Drs. Georgen and Wasco.
Well that is about it for me! I just keep hoping it all goes well!
