My name is Stacie. I am a singe, black female with no kids. I have finally made the decision to have the weight loss surgery. Unlike others, i have not struggled with weight all my life. During childhood, I was a normal, active, and healthy child. However, during my teenage years, I started to gain weight. But, because I was active in the band, I was considered thick, rather than fat. I maintained this status throughout college, since I had to walk to class and never ate a whole lot. After I started my professional career and began a rather sedentary lifestyle, the weight began to pack on gradually. Over the years, I have ignored the rising scale and the larger clothes, but enough is enough. I found myself beginning to tire easily and not wanting to do the things I normally would. I am shame to say that I even have resulted to sitting in the car at stores while others run in to pick up items, because I did not want to shop. My sister and her family even invited me to go to Disney World, but I declined, doubting that I could handle all the walking. Some of this was laziness, but I can attribute a lot of it to the excess weight. Although I am still relatively active, I would like to be healthy and get to a healthy weight. This is how I got to this point in my life.
