I went and got my hair cut really short today. My hair was in such bad shape after losing so much of it after surgery. So, since it stopped falling out I decided to cut off all the unhealthy looking hair. It looks great, I love it. I am going to put up new pictures as soon as I can, but I go for surgery on Monday to have a total knee replacement on my left knee so it won't be until after I come home and feel up to it. I'm hoping that after I heal I will be able to exercise as I haven't been able to because of my knee. I have been at a stall for quite a while and have become very discouraged and frustrated. Plus I was laid off on March 2nd and haven't been able to find a job yet. I'm trying to stay positive, but it is hard at times.

I have been laid off as the Government contract I was working on was granted to another vendor. So, as of March 2nd I have been out of a job. I have been aggressively searching for months with no results. I decided to take this time to get my left knee replaced while I am off. I went to my surgeon yesterday and my surgery for total knee replacement has been scheduled for April 27th. Hopefully once I heal and recover I will be able to exercise to help me get the rest of my weight off. I have been at a stall for quite a while now and I believe it has a lot to do with not being able to exercise. I look forward to being able to walk and be active again.

I went for my nine month check up with Dr. Moazzez on 02/12/2009 and found out that my liver function labs came back real high. He referred me to a specialist as my labs have been normal since before my surgery and all of a sudden they are super high. He asked if I have been taking Tylenol or drinking alcohol, but I have not. He said it could be a liver disease and wants me to see someone ASAP. Also, I only lost 4 pounds in a two month period which is very discouraging to me. I told him that I'm just not eating enough and I do not get hungry. I was researching liver problems and one of the first things I found was that it can be caused by malnutrition. I also found that I have the majority of symptoms for liver disease. I am going to see the specialist on 02/23 and hopefully will find out more then. I just do not feel good and am very depressed. I pray that it isn't anything serious and my health and well being will soon be back to normal. (Normal for me at least) LOL

I just have to share with everyone that I was finally able to buy my first pair of knee high boots and they actually fit my calves. I have never owned a pair, and am so excited. This was a really good WOW moment for me. I went for my 7 month check up with Dr. Moazzez last week, and am doing well. My weight loss is slowing down which is frustrating but that only means I need to work harder. I am low on protein and having problems with swelling in my legs, so he wants me to come back in 2 months. So far I am very pleased with the results I have achieved and am very happy with my decision to have this surgery. I wish you all a very special and blessed Christmas and New Year. I can't wait to see what next year brings.

I survived my first Thanksgiving since having WLS. I had 15 people to my home and we had a great time. I used a small plate and was only able to eat a spoon or two of almost everything. So, I did not feel deprived and was very satisfied. My weight loss is going very slow, and I am still having pain and numbness from my knee surgery.
I adopted a new puppy. She was rescued from a puppy mill in West VA. She helps keep me motivated to walk. Her name is Taylor and she is adorable and very spoiled already.

I had my knee surgery on Monday and am recuperating fairly well. The only problem I am having is my leg has been numb since the surgery all the way to my toes which makes it difficult to try and walk as I can't feel my foot hit the floor too well. I go back to the surgeon on Monday, so will find out more then. I hope the numbness disappears by then. Otherwise, I am doing well.

I am going in to have Arthroscopy surgery on my left knee tomorrow. I actually need to have my knee replaced, but I am trying to prolong it. My Orthopedic Surgeon was thrilled with my weight loss. He said that if we wait until I get to my goal weight the recovery from knee replacement would be much easier for me. I'm praying that this surgery will help alleviate the problems I am having and the results will last until I have knee replacement surgery.

I've been at a stall for several weeks now. I know it's because I have been dealing with some family medical problems, and haven't been getting in my vitamins and protein like I should. Plus having to find something to eat at the hospital which is not very appetizing, and salads get old after a while. I ended up going to my Orthopedic Surgeon yesterday as my knee and hip having been really bothering me. My knee keeps going out on me everytime I stand up from a sitting position and I can't walk on it until it goes back in place. Well, the doctor told me that my knee needs to be replaced as it is in terrible shape. He gave me an injection of cortisone and wants me to come back in a month. He may schedule me for Arthroscopic Surgery to prolong replacing the knee. He was thrilled with my weight loss and said that I would have a better time at recovering if I lose the rest of my weight before deciding to have my knee replaced. So, he said that the best exercise would be riding a bike or stationary bike and water aerobics as anything else is just going to irritate the problem. I was pretty bummed about it at first, but this is just another hurdle that I have to get over to continue this amazing journey. Wish me luck.

I just have to share this. Yesterday was my birthday and my sisters took me to Charles Town Races and Slots for the weekend. They booked the V.I.P. Suite; and I had a great time. My best friend came with us and then some of my friends from work met us up there. We all had so much fun. This was my first time there, and I don't know if it was beginners luck or what, but I actually came home a winner! I took yesterday off and one of my friends took me to the movies, then I went to my parents house and had dinner with them. I returned to work today and was given a big beautiful bouquet of red roses and daises. I am so blessed to have such a large group of loving, caring people in my life. I work with an awesome group of people.

What a WOW moment. I met with an ex boyfriend last night and he couldn't stop looking at me and telling me how good I look. He didn't know that I have lost weight. He sent me an email today and told me again how happy is for me. He actually has gained some weight and said seeing me inspired him to start eating more healthy. We had a nice visit. Hopefully it made him regret ever leaving me. Oh well, his loss.
