Henry L. Laws

"<font face="Comic Sans MS"><font color="#800000"><font size=2> <p align="left">I initially consulted with Dr. Frank Roberts in Huntsville. I decided not to have surgery with him due to his lack of experience. He was not even performing laproscopic RNY on his own yet. He was training under Dr. Henry Laws in Birmingham. I was given the opportunity to have my laproscopic RNY surgery under Dr. Laws, who has done hundreds of gastric bypass procedures. Dr. Roberts would be assisting. Because I had the surgery taking a last minute cancellation, I was not able to meet Dr. Laws prior to surgery. The numerous times I talked to Dr. Laws post surgery I had mixed feelings. I feel he was very knowledgeable and competent, but his bedside manner was somewhat lacking at times. I found him to be a bit arrogant and not as responsive to my questions and concerns as I would have liked. His reviews on obesityhelp.com tend to be mostly positive, so it may have just been my experience. While I would definitely do it all over again, if I had the choice I am not sure I would use either one of these surgeons again."

Lori Kaufman

"I was 150+ pounds overweight, saw her for 7 months, and she never even MENTIONED the option of gastric bypass surgery. She got upset that I didn't want to see her nutritionist, who had nothing more than ADA guidelines and generic advice, and wasn't helpful at all. She also tried to change most of my psychiatrist and allergist prescribed medications and add several more to the mix. I did not lose weight, but actually gained during the 7 months I wasted in her office. Her staff also did not take breathing function tests as she requested on my first visit, and I noted that later they had gone back and "put" numbers in - made up readings! Dr. Kaufman's office charged me for a returned check I cancelled on a fee for her exercise therapist that she made me pay for in advance and I decided not to use. Her office turned this bill over to a collection agency twice when there was only one bill! When I sent her a letter telling her I would share my experience with others, she had her business manager write this back.. "I strongly suggest you seek legal advice before making good on your threat now that you have provided proof of your intent to slander this office!" Hah. Facts are not slander, and I will share them openly! Don't waste your time and money! And don't pay them ANYTHING in advance!"

Lite-Soup 15 - Chicken

"This is pretty good, but not as good as the other flavors. It has 15g/protein per packet. Just add a little more water than the 6 oz. indicated on the packet."

Lite-Soup 15 - Tomato

"This soup is WONDERFUL, even for those of us who don't usually go for tomato soup. It's my favorite flavor. "

Tiny-Meal 15 Bar - Peanut Butter

"This is the first protein bar that I have actually liked. 15g/protein per bar. I can only eat half at a time. "

Lite-Soup 15 - Beef

"The only bad thing about this soup is the smell. But it tastes great and has 15g/protein a serving, so I can overlook that. It's also a little salty, but if you add more water than what is indicated on the package, it's juuuust right."

B-12 1000 MCG - Cherry

"You just put these tablets under your tongue and let them dissolve. They are cherry flavored and taste great! I love them!"

Pro-Cal 100

"This is the only protein drink I have been able to get down. And I actually LIKE it. I add milk instead of water to get more protein in (brings it from 14g to 22g). I would recommend it to post ops trying to get in enough protein."

Chewable Calcium Citrate

"I LOVE the taste of these! They are cherry but are very sour. To get 1000 mg/day then you will have to take 4/day, but I don't mind since I like the taste. They are fairly large, even for a chewable."
