Hello My name is Michelle and I had my Lap Band Surgery on Monday Sep 21 2009.
I am 43 yrs old Italian Lady with a BMI of 43 that is trying to make a difference in my life by becoming a Healthy Individual..
I have suffered weight issues all my life..When i was a teenager I remember making myself so sick from vomitting jus so that i could shed the extra weight from my body..I lived in the gym as if it was my second home, and I ate the most horrible foods so that I would not Gain weight.. DIDN'T WORK!!
I didnt love Myself much because i got picked on teased by many people in school and my family which at that point made me jus give up and just start eating as a comfort from all the pain i was feeling..
Long story short!!! January 15 2009 I ended up in the Emergency Room with extreme Hypertension..I ve delt with Hypertension for 8 yrs and on this day the Hypertension I experienced was severe!! I was admitted and a battery of test were performed on me and Finally a Dr said to me" Nothing is wrong it's all in your head!! It's ANXIETY!!! Went home and I knew something was WRONG!!! Well January 18 2009 Again i was rushed to ER and more test were done and then the same Dr said to me Michelle I apologize for not listening to your concerns and symptoms..Michelle YOUR HEART TEST ( CARDIO LITE) CAME BACK POSITOVE WHICH SHOWS A BLOCKAGE IN YOUR HEART)
I ASKED HIM SOME QUESTIONS WITH THE UNIT NURSE AND MY 18 YR OLD SON PRESENT, AND HE RESPONDED AND WALKED AWAY!! I NEEDED TO HAVE AN ANGIOGRAM TO MY HEART @ 43 YRS OLD..I CRIED AND CRIED AND LOOKED AT MY SON AND NURSE AND ASKED HER IF I COULD HAVE AN ADVANCE DIRECTIVE!!!! IT WAS THIS DAY I KNEW THAT I HAD TO DO SOMETHING IF I SURVIVED THE ANGIOGRAM OR ANYTHING ELSE THE DR WOULD FIND DURING THE TEST!!!
THE CARDIOLOGIST DR MODY PERFOMRED MY TEST THAT NIGHT AND AFTER ALL WAS SAID AND DONE HE EXPLAINED THE PROCEDURE AND FINDINGS TO MY SON...I HAD A 35% BLOCK IN THE FRONT OF MY HEART...TO MANY PEOPLE THIS IS NOT MUCH BUT IT'S ENOUGH TO KILL ANYONE REGARDLESS.
I SAID NO MORE YO-YO WEIGHT LOSS AND FAD DIETS I LOOKED INTO BARIATRIC SURGERY AND FOUND A WONDERFUL DR!!!
