I was approved about a year ago only to find out that I have an 18 month waiting period with my insurance. I had a date set and all. Well I can say that the year did go by alot quicker that I expected. I have been getting ready to send all my info back to BC/BS. May 1, 2006 is when the waiting period ends. I hope they don't take their time reviewing it this second time around. I found out in about a week the first time. I had to have another psych eval. What do they think I went crazy in the past year? Still don't know if ins. will cover this one. I have gone back and had a second consultation with my surgeon. Dr. Boe at the Barix clinic in Ill. He is easy to talk to and very intelligent. I feel comfortable knowing he will be the one performing my wls.

I set the date for my surgery today. It's hard to believe I will be on my way to the life I have been waiting for. I have been thinking about this day for years now. My Birthday was yesterday, so I am glad to say my wish came true!! : ) I can't wait!!!

I started my 10 day pre-op liquid diet today. I thought I would be more hungary than I am. That's a good thing!! Just nine days left to go!!

I made it!!! I can't believe how fast everything went. Already 6 days post-op. Feels good to be able to write those words. .post-op.
I had lap RNY and the pain has been very minimal since leaving the hosp. Everyone was amazed at how fast I was recovering. I am making sure not to over do anything though. don't want to cause any complications. I have been having some numbness in my upper right thigh that I will be having my PCP look into tomorrow. The Hosp. said it wasn't a blood clot when I called to ask about it. Also it most likely isn't anything to do with surgery, but seems weird it happened after. Guess I will see.

My PCP said not to worry about the numbness that I was having,. We are going to wait and see if it goes away on its own. I can tell that it is not as severe as it was...slowly ge

I had my two week check up yesterday and everything is great!!
Dr. Boe told me that I am healing great and my scars should become almost invisible !!! got to move on to pureed foods!! that rocks. Not much going on besides that. Oh yeah at my check up they said I have already lost 7% of my excess weight. How cool is that?

Things seem to be going great. I started soft foods today!!!! I never thought I would love the taste of a scrambled egg soo much. I used 1/4 cup of egg beaters I didn't think it was going to be enough, but I even had some left over. Never in my life have I been able to stop eating before my plate was clean. It is great feeling to be in control of food finally.
I went back to work on the 14th that was three weeks off. Everyone is being great about everything. Making sure that I am not being over worked. All of my co-workers could tell the difference in my face. Just makes me smile. I told them to just wait a few more months.
My clothes are all fitting much better!!! Some of my jeans are almost too big already!! I would say I have dropped a size. I can wear shorts that didn't even come close to buttoning last summer. I am on cloud nine!!! I can't wait to see myself in a year. : )

I had my 6 week check up on the 5th. Dr. Boe said I earned a gold star!!! According to their scale it was a loss of 30 lbs and 17% of my excess weight gone!! I am back to eating regular foods. I haven't had problems with anything except red meat. That is normal in the begining I hear. I am full after about 4 bites of food usually.
I went camping and had a bit of trouble trying to figure out what I was going to eat. I brought FF hot dogs and ate about half of one. I guess it was better than I thought it would be. Made sure to bring some pre-made protien drinks from GNC with me as well. I'm sure it will be easier in the future when I am able to tolerate more.
I have been having a little trouble finding protein I like. I bought more at my check up Nectar Natural Peach is what I decided to get after sampling about 5 different kinds. I figure I can mix that with water, milk, and ice tea. It still leaves a bit of an after taste, but I can live with it. I ordered some samples of Unjury brand protein Strawberry Sorbet and got them in the mail. WOW!!! the taste is great. It didn't have an after taste. Dissolved right away whenI muixed it. They don't have many flavors to choose from, but I have to say I will be ordering unjury again. I would recommend it to anyone.

My weight loss has slowed up a bit. I'm not sure if it is because I am having trouble getting in all of my protein or also haven't been exercising as much as I should be the past few weeks. I have been too tired after work to do so. We are short two full time people at work so it has been very hectic. I have been able to do 4 miles on my recumbant bike and before I was only able to get two miles.
My favorite pair of jeans are now too big!!!! Luckily I have a few pairs of jeans from back when I was smaller to get into. My friend who had WLS almost a year ago has a ton of clothes for me that no longer fit her. I can't wait to get them since I have been wanting to go shopping, but there is no point in spending my money on clothes that won't fit in a month or two. It will be like a free shopping spree!!!

I have lost a total of 67 lbs. I feel great. I got back on track with my protein and exercise. I went out back home for the first time since surgery and everyone said I looked fantastic!!! It is sooo nice to hear that and know that people mean it.

Not much to write everything is still going great. I have been stuck at 242 for about a week now. I hope it doesn'tlast much longer. I weigh myself twice a day hoping to see it drop. i know it is just a plateau, but come on already. I went camping over the Labor day weekend and decided to test myself to see if I would dump. I ate half a smore amd nothing happened. I know I can't eat stuff like that all the time, but it sure did taste great. I am still amazed by how lucky I have been with everything. I even got a great raise at work. I work for one of the cheapest people I have ever met and he gave me a $3.25 an hour raise .T he most he has ever given at once is $1 raise. I almost had a heart attack!!! Must be because I rock!!!!...lol I am now looking to purchase my first home!!! How scary is that? Very!!! It's one of my last steps to being to where I want to be in my life.

I found my house!! I can't wait to move in. I am hoping to close on it in the next two weeks. I will need to refinish the hardwood floors and put some color on the walls besides white, but other than that it is ready to go. the weight still seems to be falling off. My bf can't believe it. He says I just keep getting prettier by the day. How sweet of him. I had to go through my clothes again. The one's I was saving for winter are too big. It rocks. : )

It's been awhile since I have last updated. Been pretty busy with the new house and the Holiday's. Well today is New year's eve and I am hoping to have a great new year. I am doing great and can't believe that I only have 3 more lbs to go before I am below 200. I haven't seen that since High school and that was 11 yrs ago. The weight has started coming off slower now. So I am upping the amount of exercise I have been doing. I will update again soon!!!

Finally below 200!!!! I'm down 124 lbs and doing Great. I joined the YMCA last week and I love it!! It is right next to my work so I just head over there during my lunch break. It don't get time to really eat so I have been having these new protien drinks called Profect. It is only like 1/4 cup and has 25 g of protien. The taste isn't the best, but it's gone in about 3 drinks. I've been very happy with the product. I got rid of about 3 more large bags of clothes. My closet is quite bare, but that mneans I can go buy more clothes!!!! I love shopping for clothes now. It doesn't make me want to cry anymore. I have also been buying things on sale that don't fit me yet, but I know they will soon.

Can't believe it has been so long since I have written. I did have my gaol weight set at 150, but I have lowered it to 140. I know I can do it. My own family almost doesn't reconize me these days. It's freaking great. I am now a single woman again. My bf of 3 1/2 yrs just didn't trust me anymore. He had become quite jealous, and I couldn't take that. I know he was there for me before I lost the weight, but he was trying to make me feel guilty for becoming a healthy person. For finally being able to control myself. I don't think he could handle the confidence that I have gained either. Only 1 more week until my 1 year anniversary. time flies when your having fun.
