The Pysch Appt
Jul 14, 2008
Today was my psych appointment. I have offically lost 11 pounds since my orientation class, which was 6/10. Last week was a challange cause I taught vacation bible school all week throwing my regular routine into kaos, I also had my 8yr old granddaughter with me for the week. I did pretty good all things considered, I really got in some good workouts swimming everyday. I even managed to cook dinner for the camp counslers including dessert without getting to far off track. I guess that's why Kaiser has such a long preparation schedule so one can adjust and make the nesessary changes before surgery. Any way the psych appointment was fine. There really wasn't anything surprising. I now have my consultation with the surgeon scheduled.......9/19 wow, that is much further out than I expected. My surgeon is Dr. Albert Im. So the challange will be to continue on with the 1200 cal a day intake, and keep exercising. With the good Lord's help I'll be down another 11 - 15 lbs that's my goal.
Just to throw this out there what are some of your favorite meal ideas? I'd love to get some new menu plans.

The Beginning
Jun 20, 2008
With some encouragement from a dear friend, I made the appointment with my PCP to ask for the referral for a lap band. I was surprised when she agreed adding that she thought I would make an excellant candidate for WLS. I have Kaiser ins. and about two weeks later I got the appointment for the WLS orientation class. I am fortunate to have a friend who also is seeking WLS and is one step ahead of me in the appointments have her surgeon appt on the same day, so we traveled the 1 1/2 hr drive to Richmond together. The orientation class was extremely informative. I heard from one of the Kaiser Bariatric surgeons, one of the nurse case managers and one of Kaiser's nutritionists. To say that it was all overwhelming, would be putting it mildly. I had no idea of the time and preparation one goes though just to get to a surgery date but I can truly see the benefit and the reasoning behind it. I for one am glad that it is a thoughtful and carefully orchestrated program. Monday 6/16 I began the pre-op meal program of 1,200 calories, three meals a day, 64oz water consumption, 30 minute exercise routine that will lead to a healthier me. Today is Friday 6/20 and while I'm 10 lbs lighter I am soooooo hungry. It is taking all my will power to not eat something, anything :( ....... I realize that my body will eventually adjust, but man right now I am so grateful for this web site. I find it so helpful just to write down what I'm feeling. The weekend will be a tough, But I am comitted to sticking with the program. I want this change. So with the good Lord's help, prayer and my water bottle, Saturday & Sunday here I come. :) <><
