Surgery DONE!!
Sep 26, 2009
Ya.. it came quicker than I thought.. the past 7 months flew by ...The surgery itself wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be. I think I hyped myself up more than I needed to. I heal pretty quickly, so I knew I wouldn't have that long of a stay. I had my surgery on Monday, by Tuesday afternoon they let me leave. Which was nice... it was easier than the rest of the week.lol.
I am an active person, so sitting around the house not being able to do much but get up and walk for 10 minutes at a time every few hours drove me NUTS! I wanted to get things done!!! and I was so desperte to get out of the house, I almost agreed to go on road trip to Ohio ( an 8 hour drive) .Well it was a need to get out, and the fact that I REALLY did want to go. It would have been a fun trip w/ a really good friend. However, My best friend put his big brother foot down and was like NO WAY are you going ANYWHERE!!! and ya..he was right...lol.. there will be other times I get to go I'm sure.
The past week has been hard w/ getting in enough liquid. Two weeks on the clear liquid diet has worn me bare. I cant' even Bare the smell of broth, or cubes, or stock ... The site or sound of makes me feel ill. And The crystal light pops and drinks seem to give me the umm.. unecessary #2 bathroom trips.. no idea why...so now I am down to watered down cranberry juice(100% no sugar added of course), Decaf tea, and water.. what options ay?
I am so looking forward to my second week in just so I can have some yogurts, protein shakes, and a some cream of wheat. and of course my favorite...some yummy soy milk.. oh how I have wanted just a little soy milk..haha.. pathetic I am !!!
I have read the message posts and found protein is going to be my best friend in these next 6 months if not longer. I am looking at vitamin options, and want to intake every vitamin that my body will allow w/o overdosing myself. I made a list of vitamins, some of wich I already have. I just don't want to get TOO malnutirioned, and have some bad effects result in it.
Also, I am greatfull my company has a gym, and I have co-workers that will walk w/ me every day during breaks. That will help melt me down :) I also have a couple friends that have already done the surgery and are a year or so out as support and they keep telling me as long as I do as I'm told, I will be okay. And very happy with my results and stay healthy. Soo ya.
Thats where I stand at this point. pretty much all I have for now.. soo.. outsky ..

PCP and Nutrionist Appointment
Feb 20, 2009
Sooo. I am on the track of Surgery. ;)
I found me a Primary Care Physcian and he is awesome. I had just moved to Missouri about 3 months ago, so I didn't have one. After LOTS of searching I found a one. I really wanted a female doctor, unfortunatly none of them were accepting new patients, and the ones that were didn't take my insurance.. CRAZY!!! I thought BCBS was like a Super good insurance..but I guess they don't like it here. haha. Anyway, I am in no way disappointed with the doctor I got.
I told him my predicament of having to meet the 6 month medically supervised diet, and he was very helpful about it. I am going to meet w/ him once a month, and he set me up w/ the Nutrionist in their building. I am on a 1300 calorie a day diet. Which being vegatarian is PLENTY more calories for me. He wanted me to go on a 1600 calorie a day diet, and I was like. hmmm.. I will have to eat ALOT more than I do now to meet that... but I didn't question it. I will do anything to I need to do to meet the requirements I have to. SO when I met w/ my Nut, she agreed that it wouldn't make sense to increase my food intake if I am trying to lose weight. lol. And I meet w/ her once a month too. So I am happy that I am finally getting somewhere! By August I should be ALL set and qualified for my surgery. YAY!!!!
ALSO another bonus.. because I am still unemployed my health insurance is through COBRA. THANK YOU OBAMA!!! He just passed an Act that says for nine months any person that is on Cobra, and has unvoluntariy lost his/her job will only have to pay 35% of the cost for their health insurance each month. So I will be saving about $250 A MONTH!!! It is going to help me save to pay for the difference my insurance won't pay.. AND I can even get some new clothes for interviews for new job.
I also decided to go for my MO Resident Prop & Casualty License. I swore I was done w/ insurance when I left Massachusetts. BUT I am good at it, and I kinda miss it. SCARY!!!! They warned me, once you go insurance and you get good at it, you never want to do anything else. I didn't believe them. I thought surrending my MA license was a step in a direction of a new career. LOL! I was wrong. I am now SEARCHING for a way back in to the world of RISK ! haha!!!
well that is pretty much it for now. ^_^

First Consult
Jan 30, 2009
Soo.. I went to meet my Surgeon,Dr. Wagner. He is really nice!! and so are his nurses and receptionists! They were very very helpful ! He gave me the okay as a candidate, which is GREAT! They checked w/ my health insurance, and they are requiring me to do a six month Medically supervised diet. I had to find a new PCP since I just moved to Missouri three months ago. So all morning today I was calling around to find a doctor. I finally found one, and requested an appointment through their online website!! that is so strange! I had never heard of a doctors office that has website that you register with, then schedule appointments online. What you do is pick the day and times that are best for you, and then I have to wait for an email letting me know what time from the days/time I selected they can take me.. SOOOO wierd !!! BUT I am glad becuase that will start me on my path... :)
I also got an appointment w/ a nutritionist and and psychologist (for the evaluation). I love being on the ball! I am so happy the wheels are starting to turn! If all goes well, I will be able to have my surgery in July or August !!! Goodness I feel like I am rambling.lol
One part of the consult, he asked me if I get headaches/migraines. And I told him, "well I used to, and I used take medication for it. But Since I got laid off, its funny, I dont' get them anymore!".. I guess he found that funny cuz he started laughing. AND, he said I am his first Vegetarian ever to have WLS... I thought was kinda cool !!!
On another note, we got in the mail today a St. Louis Community College booklet. And it is for Non-credit classes, like glass staining, pottery, dance classes, art classes, informational seminars on a variety of things. Anyway, I found a few things that really spark my interest. I am putting serious concideration in taking a class or two just for fun.
One class they have is Ballet and Mondern Dance for Begginers. Now I did Ballet for like 4 years as a kid, but it has been YEARS!!! and this class is intended for Adults, and they specified that its aimed towards Non-Dancers and Non-Althetes. Granted I am a dancer, between 11 years of figure skating, and my years in ballet, but I am not athletic enough anymore to do an intermediate class. I have fallen WAY out of shape.. so I think this would be fun !!! They have Belly Dancing classes, and ballroom dancing too.. but for belly dancing.. ahh.. I will wait until I have at least half the belly I have now.. lol! And ballroom dancing , I can't find a partner to go with me. I know more gay men than any one girl should.. and NONE of them like ballroom dancing!! lol. They just laugh at me and say.. YA okay! Soo..thats a no go.. ahh well.
The other one that REALLY caught my eye is a Ceramic Sculpting and Hand Building for Begginers. I love art, but have no real art talent. I thought this would be a great class to get some creative juices flowing. I am leaning more towards the Ballet Class though because I am really wanting to get active again. Its been to long, and I miss being in shape..lol.
I guess I will see!!!

about.. ME! :)
Jan 18, 2009
Okay...Well I am not EVER really good at describing me..and stuff like that..but here I go..
I was born in CA, but moved to Massachusetts where I grew up. I have my Mom, and a younger brother (16) and sister (21) :) Then Moved to RI w/ my Best Friend Aden.. and we are now in the Midwest living in Missouri :) There are three of us in the house. Me, Aden, and Jon.. and we have quite a few pets... you ready?! lol
1 Dog = Legend
4 cats= Fruitcake,FunkyTiger,Fiddlesticks, and Fuzzball.
1turantula = Hiram
I am a bookaholic! I read.. ALOT. I also like to write. As cliche as it sounds, I write poetry. But not for the sake of writing poetry. I typically write for theraputic reasons. It helps relieve stress and get my frustrations out.
I love video games, movies, Walking, Skating, dancing... and well I love ANYTHING that has to do w/ being outdoors! :)
I was at a turning point in my life the year. 2008 was definetly a year to ponder on and wonder what is next... I got laid off, that led to me thinking I was losing alot of co-workers I concidered friends for MANY years... when you work with people and see them EVERYDAY they become family too.., My mom had gotten Cancer ( She is a surviver and going strong ^_^ MOM! ), I had a relationshiip go sour... with all this swelling my brain to capacity and emotional overload... I thought I needed a change...so I moved to Missouri in hopes to start a new. Sadly , I got really depressed, unsure if I had made the right move. I felt lost, alone, I was just feeling hopeless..BUT out of it. I got to spend alot of time thinking about WHAT I want to better myself, and what changes I do need to make to get me where I want to be in MY future and get my mind straight so I can focus on a much deserved life of my own. And I finally, after a LONG LONG talk w/ the best friend, came to a path I wanted to take. And to start with that, I have to get healthy.
I had tried COUNTLESS diets to try to get to heathly weight. Even though I never had a doctor suggest I try any weightloss program, I knew that I was treading on dangerous waters as my weight just kept going up! Although, you name it, I tried it. Some were great for a while..but I am not sure if my body adjusted..but I would just stop losing weight... I would get frustrated..and eventually just give up.
I have been a vegetarian for almost two years. Since I became vegetarian I did lose about 50 LBS. However, once again, my body is at a standstill. And have been for... about a year...I walk, LOVE to walk, I eat plenty of protein. Take all my vitamins.. blah blah..lol.
Alas.. I had a few friends that did RNY and I was SHOCKED at the change it made in their lives. They basically said the felt free and felt like they were a person again. Their own person. So I have been researching it for a while.. I went to an educational seminar to learn more and get to meet the doctor I am HOPING will be my doctor. They are confirming whether my insurance will cover the surgery. And well.. that is where I am today.. haha..waiting!
I am VERY glad I found this site. Its so informative, and there are so many helpful, friendly people! I love it !
soo.. I will keep the bloggerooni updated as time passes...
I hope this gives a little info on myself :)
