Recap of Mar 2006 Banding Surgery to June 14, 2007
Jun 14, 2007
March 28, 2006: (303lbs) I GOT BANDED, but I had nasty hiccups (some very painful) for 36hrs straight immediately after surgery. It woke me up when I tried to sleep. 3-days later, MD took out my lapband and put in VG Lap-Band (can hold 10cc). No more hiccups. An out-patient hospital stay turned into 5days.
May 2006: (293, -10lbs) 1st Fill. Band now at 4cc.
June 2006: (283, -20lbs) Losing very slowly
Sep 2006: (290, -13lbs) Gain weight. Got 2nd Fill up to 5cc now.
Oct 2006: Moved across country
Food Restriction... Is My Band Working???: I sometimes test myself and I learned I could eat a KFC Bowl or a whole plate of supreme nachos with very little restriction. This was a notice to me to check my diet and check on the level of my restriction.
April 2007: (291, -12lbs) In a little more than 1yr, I only lost 10lbs! I hope my latest fill will workout. I’ll keep folks posted
Jun 7, 2007: (293, -10lbs) Gain weight. New MD in new city/state, 3rd Fill up to 6cc
Jun 8-13: (284, -19lbs) Not able to eat any solids without throwing up or PBing. Drinking more than a moderate sip will cause me to PB. So I sipped Slimfast mixed with extra protein powder for 5 days straight. 18oz Mealdrink (Slimfast + 8oz protein) took 3-5hrs to drink! I had nasty heartburn at night (antacids near bed). I started getting concerned… thinking about calling doctor to get a x-ray/barium. I started getting concerned I may have band-slippage.
Jun 14, 2007: (281, -22lbs) 1st day 1-week able chew and swallow anything. :-) I ate soup and crackers for lunch. Maybe I was just sore from the fill last week which is why I had those issues over the last week. I’ll try mushies this weekend… see what happens.
I realized that 2-6 days after a fill, the area around my band tends to swell, so it’s hard to drink or swallow a lot of water at one time. But If I make it through those “tough days” then I will go to more comfortable point.
I’m going to wait out the weekend to see how my restriction is going and if I still feel discomfort. It seems to have gone away today…
Haven't Lost Since Aug '06... Time for a new fill.

I moved across country in Oct of '06 and I just found a new MD to treat me and fill my VG Lap Band.
I will add more to this site later...
