Surgery Day October 20th!
Oct 09, 2008
I'ts been awhile since I posted. I finally have a date set. It's a couple months later than I was hoping for, but it's approaching fast now! I'm starting to get a little nervous, but I'm sure it will all turn out just fine. Anyone that happens to read this I would appreciate prayers and good wishes on my surgery day.
I will post when I get home from the hospital. My insurance requires I spend the night, but hopefully they will let me out early Tuesday morning.
Pre-op Appointments Complete!!
Jun 17, 2008
I have finally completed the pre-op testing stage. I talked to my surgeons office and they have received all my reports, so I was able to schedule a surgery consult and dietician appt. On the negative side of this I have to wait until the end of July because I have to have an open hysterectomy on June 30th so that will slow me down a little! I'm hoping they won't require me to wait too long between surgeries. I'm getting anxious to have this finished! Unlike most people who like to look good during the summer, my goal is to look good at Christmas. For me that is when I see most of my family and old friends. I would love to be able to wear a pretty Christmas/New Years dress!
Appointment Updates
Apr 30, 2008
Today was my pulmo appt. with Dr. Worley. He was nice, a little younger than I expected! The appt was a breeze. Went real fast. They called me back, had me do some breathing exercises, took a chest x-ray, blood pressure, asked a few questions, that was about it. My appt. was at 11:00, I was done by 11:30. He said everything looked great, that I should do fine with which ever surgery I decided on, and he'd see me in the hospital!
I still haven't got to get my psych results. The week it was scheduled I had to have a D&C and some biopsies done for some female problems I was having, so I won't get to see Dr. Cashman until May 8th for the results. I had the initial appt with cardio, and they scheduled me for a stress test on the 12th. So hopefully I will have all the necessary testing completed in time to get a surgery consult appt. before the end of the may. Anyway I'm keeping my fingers crossed! The main thing I have learned from all of this is it takes longer than expected!
Psych evaluation
Mar 29, 2008
I went for my 1st of 3 required appointments for surgery clearance. My Psychiatric Evaluation was done by Dr. Melissa Cashman. She was a very nice person and real easy to talk to. We visited for about 45 minutes talking about our lives and my understanding of the surgery. She was very helpful explaining a few of things that I was not real clear on. The second part of the visit was the strangest. I had to fill out a true/false questionare of 175 questions. Actually I was lucky though, some people have to fill out 560 questions! Some of the questions were really weird, and the rest of them were asking the same questions over and over with different wording. Next week I go back for the results. I left that appointment feeling pretty good about things, then I got home and started second guessing what I had talked to her about! I guess at this point I can just hope she didn't think I was crazy!
