First complication...1 yr post-op

Aug 08, 2009

I had to spend a day and a half in the hospital this week due to a bleeding ulcer. The first thing my surgeon asked was if I drank a lot of caffeine...well I am notorious for drinking sugar free Redbull and diet Mtn Dew. More Dew then RB but still drank both. He told me that the carbonation in the pop will eat away at the lining of my pouch. I never knew this, I always just thought that we weren't supposed to drink diet pop cause the carbonation would be hard to tolerate, didn't know it would actually do physical harm...enough of that! He did an endoscope and sure enough there were 2 ulcers, one near the anastomosis and one farther down in the pouch. (at least I didn't have to be probed like I had been abducted by aliens! lol)
Anyway...he was extatic with my weight loss...202lb overall and 164 since surgery. Just 18 to go and I will be at my goal weight! Just need to start saving for a tummy tuck I guess!

36lb to go to goal!

Apr 28, 2009

I am shooting for being at my goal weight by my 1 year anniversary, so that means that I have 36 lb to lose and 12 weeks to do it! I think I can make it. I just really need to concentrate on getting to the gym...this has ben my biggest struggle. I have honestly had no issues with any sort of food in particular. the only time I do have issues is if I eat too fast. Anyway, wish me luck and I will try and keep everyone posted.

The minus 300 club!

Mar 09, 2009

Been about a month since I posted anything so here goes...
Finally broke the 300 mark over the last couple weeks. Been about a month in the making, I have been fluctuating between 300-305 got down to about 298 a couple times but then would jump back up. Wanted to wait til I got to 290 or under before I claim it to be official. Went to the Dr last week for my 6mo check up and he seemed pretty happy with my weightloss. about 130lb since surgery. Seems like it has been about a month. Never realy have many issues with what I eat, but I definitely still catch myself eating too fast sometimes, and I know that I am not getting nearly the amount of protein I need to be.
Started a new workout this week and hoping that I can make myself stick to it. It is a tough one, but I am going to give it a shot!
I was never a real outgoing person, and have definitely noticed my confidence level jumping up over the last month or so, maybe I'll finally be able to find the girl of my dreams now! ;)

We'll see!

THE CENTURY MARK!!!

Nov 18, 2008

As of yesterday I am down a total of 102.6 lbs. Can't believe it has gone this quick. Not even 3 months post-op and already over 100lb gone.

8 weeks post-op

Oct 20, 2008

8 weeks out and down 63lbs since surgery, 84 overall!!!!

I'd like to say it has been an easy 8 weeks, but in reality It has been a little frustrating over the last 3 or so. I think I know the problem...not chewing enough/trying to eat too big of bites and too fast...you would think that after 8 weeks I would get the hint when my body starts fighting back, but by that time it is too late! Guess I am a slow learner! I guess though that knowing is half the battle, so I just need to work on the other half.
Other than that I cannot be more pleased. 84lbs! I never thought this day would be here!

First Post Op update

Aug 31, 2008

Well here I am 1wk 4 days post op and have been doing great. Still have a little pain when getting up and sitting down, but overall feel awesome. I haven't had any issues with food as of yet, but am still a little hesitant when it comes to how much I eat. I am on a "soft" diet (puree'd everything, called the Step II diet by my surgery program) and am ready for something that I can sink my teeth into! Down about 20lbs since surgery, so I can't complain!

That's all for now, will post again soon.
