6 week check up and some "bad" news...
Feb 16, 2009
Had my 6 wk checkup and lost only 9 pounds. I was really hoping for 11 so I could finally say I was under 300. To make matters worse, my doctor has advised me to take my insulin again and get with my endocrin. doctor to see what should be done. Very depressing for me.....I start support group on Thursday, hopefully that will help.

I'm really getting nervous because I still feel that I am eating too much! I usually measure my food and I am allowing my self 1/3 cup veggies, 1/3 cup good carbs and a small portion of meat. I don't usually finish it but I can't help thinking....Is this too much?? Since I haven't see alot of "sleeve" blogs, hopefully some one will read this and offer some advice. I excercise at least 5 days a week (I am up to walking 1.4 miles) and I am drinking plenty of fluids....
Am I on the right path??? HELP!

Am I on the right path??? HELP!
In the beginning.......

I started out 2 years ago trying to get my surgery approved. My doctors fought a good fight with the insurance company but we lost. My husband signed us both up to go to a seminar and we found out about the sleeve. Needless to say, after getting funding, I decided to have the surgery. My reason for the surgery was to save my life. I took 2 shots of long lasting insulin a day in addition to 3 to 5 shots with each meal. I was spending $250 a month on meds.
My new life began on 1-8-09 when I had the sleeve. I went in weighing 337 pounds. It is now two weeks later and I have not had any of the complications that could occur (reflux, dumping, etc.) Matter of fact, I had to ask my husband several times was he SURE I had surgery because I did feel like I did, with the exceptions of the bandages and the loss of appetite. Well, I went to my 2 wk follow-up and I lost 27 pounds! I was so excited! I had worried that I was eating too much or not doing enough (I am now walking 1 and 1/4 mile a day compared to two weeks ago I couldn't even walk one time around the track).
I'm really scared of what the future holds, but I know I can do this for me and my health. I have the most loving and supportive husband and I know with him by my side, I will lose my weight and reach my goal!
