Life is Good!

Mar 17, 2009

It’s been over 7 months since my surgery and I have lost almost 80 pounds and life is much better. I’m still not near my goal nor am I in Onederland but I’m not as far away as I was 7 months ago.

I can breathe better

I can tie my shoes

I have a lap

I can shop for clothes at Walmart

I don’t need a seatbelt extender

I don’t tire when cleaning my house

I can shop without "dropping"

Did I mention that I have a lap? Woo Hoo – How long has that been!!

Update

Jan 06, 2009

As of January 4, 2009 I have lost 66 lbs. I’m sure it would have been more if I hadn’t snacked so much over the holidays.

My surgery and early post-op

Jan 06, 2009

I had surgery on August 7, 2008 (Lap RNY & Gallbladder removal) Dr. Prickett said it was harder for him to remove the Gallbladder than to do the RNY. I apparently lost a lot of blood at the staple line and became very anemic. Due to this, I ended up staying in the hospital 7 days. I was very weak and had a lot of back pain (don’t know where this came from). The pain meds dried me out so bad I quit taking them. I was only given clear liquids while in the hospital, but was advanced to full liquids when I came home.

2 days after coming home, I had to return to the dr’s office (2 hours away) because of a seroma in one of my incisions. It was draining a lot of fluid, but they showed my DH how to pack and bandage it.

August 20 - I returned back to the dr’s office for a follow-up visit and was told that I could advance to the puree stage, the seroma was healing and all looked good except my iron levels were still low.

September 3 - I returned back for my 4 weeks follow-up visit and was told that I could advance to the soft food stage, the seroma is still healing and again everything still looked good, except my iron levels were still low. I have lost a total of 29 lbs.
