Time goes quickly...
Sep 12, 2010
No excuses! I could have been much better and followed the rules of the band. The one thing that I can say is the band has helped me from gaining weight. From this point forward, I am going to rededicate myself to losing the extra pounds. I pledge to keep a daily food log and follow the diet guidelines of the lapband. I pledge to keep my OH journal updated with a weekly weigh-in. I pledge to be successful! A new me is just around the corner....

1st fill - 03/25/09

I had my first fill experience under floroscopy. The technician sprayed the area around my port and the only thing that I felt was a little pressure. It was much easier than I imagined.
I was given 4 cc's in my 11 cc Realize C band. I don't have much restriction but I know my time will come in the next few fills. I'm trying to keep my portions and carbs under control until that time comes.

Back to gym
Mar 02, 2009
Well, I'm less than a week post-op and I made it back to the gym. I had an easy 30 minute workout on the recumbent bike. I hope to get back into some light weight training after the surgeon's check-up next week. It felt pretty good and I plan to be a regular gym rat over the next year.
I'm getting tired of protein shakes, etc. It will be nice to add some variety to my diet after this liquid stage the last two weeks. I did have some blended potato soup w/cheese yesterday (yummy) but I know it was too high in carbs.
I'm pleased with the way my surgery scars are healing. I'm feeling good about making this permanent change to my body....hope that continues.

Yes, that's right, I have a surgery date. I was shocked that my insurance approval came thru so quickly without a hitch. The start of my "makeover" begins on Feb. 24, 2009. I have read and researched tons of info about the lapband and I feel prepared. YouTube has a wonderful WLS community that provides inspiration and some great ideas (I'm hooked).
I have a final nutrition class in a few weeks and pre-admission to the hospital two weeks prior to surgery. I have been instructed that I will be on a one week liquid diet before the big day. I guess that is better than most (maybe because my BMI is just under 40?).

Taking the steps

I am making progress toward getting insurance approval for lap band surgery. I have one more meeting scheduled in early Dec. with the dietician and then my paperwork should be submitted. If all goes well, maybe my surgery can be scheduled for January. I am both nervous and excited about the prospect.
