Life Change

Aug 30, 2007

Boy what a difference 5 month make, if you look at my last post I was sounding pretty desperate about my regain.  Instead of persuing the revision, In June I  opted for getting serious about my diet and exercise.  I follow the basics of eating mostly protein. I basically eat small amounts all day and a nice dinner of protein and veggies.  I try not to let carbs in the house at all.  I eat fruit, peanut butter (limited amount) as evening snacks and the biggest change is 45 minutes to 1 hr of exercise most days of the week. Usually I use a power walking DVD at home with weights.  It is the easiest thing to stick with and all you need is about 2 square feet of room to do it in.   OK...so at 8 months post op I had gotten down to 247 lbs, never got any lower and over the past 5 year I regained up to 279 ouch!  Today I am at 256 after only 2 months of doing the "right things" and because of the level of exercise I can fit into the clothes I only wore monentarily at 247.  Will I get down past the 247...golly gee I hope and pray that I do.  I'm trying to not weigh too often because I lose is spurts and within those spurts somedays if I step on the scale there is a gain and that is so devastating.   I think I'm headed in the right direction.

Transected or Not that is the question!

Mar 16, 2007

Well I recently found out that my surgeon was probably not transecting back when he did my RNY in 2002.  I may have a staple line disruption and that would explain my stomach aches, bloating, gas, acid reflux and ability to eat much more.  I have an appt on April 10th to get things checked out.  I'm really upset, all of this may just not be due to my lack of self control in eating and little exercise.  All I know is I dont want to ever weigh over 300 lbs again and I'm in great danger of getting there if I dont do anything
