David Martin

"I liked his attitude - the general impression he gave when I first met him. I feel that he is a caring, compassionate doctor, although I don't know that the after care program provided is the best from what I've read and heard of from others. The office staff is usually very friendly - they are all young girls - sometimes a bit "hurried" but otherwise, I've never had a problem getting anything from them when needed. I can't say there isn't anything that I don't like about him - he was attentive to my needs when I had questions and/or concerns and was prompt in returning phone calls when necessary. As for aftercare, that is a part where I don't feel they have really gotten much together. There are support groups within the facility to attend, but they don't require them as mandatory (only before surgery) and they don't emphasize anything such as nutritional care (ie: with a nutritionist) afterwards to better understand how the surgery can help you. He addressed the risks of surgery quite clearly - there was a symposium we had to attend before we could set up an appointment with him, and it was clear and direct the benefits and the risks involved. There was a video on how the surgery was performed laprascopically so we had a good overall view of what really to expect. Overall, as a surgeon, I think he did a good job and made me feel comfortable through-out the times we've met together. Although I think surgical competence should be #1 as your health/life are at risk in any surgery, a nice bedside manner helps to ease the discomfort before and after surgery..."
