So just as I was waiting for insurance approval last Spring 2008. I woke up one morning in May with a severe herniated disc and in severe pain! Took me forever to get a doc's appt. and finally had herniated disc surgery in June 2008. Went back to work in August and called WLS office to ask if all of my tests and insurance approval (which came in July 2008) had expired. They said everything was still good except blood work. So I had blood work re-done in October and was scheduled in Jan 2009. I had to cancel that date due to issues at work. So now I am scheduled for Feb 2009---next month. Hopefully this will all go well.

Let's see, I went to my first WLS seminar at Duke back in Sept 2007. I applied for surgery soon after and had my first appt. in Feb 2008. 

All of the blood work came back good except the evil blood sugars. HA1c was 10.2 so no surgery for me until it came down. The nurse practitioner referred me to a great Endocrinologist. He was so booked, that I could not see him until March. A huge set back.

When I finally saw him, he upped my meds and added another wonder pill. I changed to sugar free drinks and deserts and ate more fruits. The blood sugars dropped like a lead balloon--down to 7.3!  Woo-hoo!

Now I am trying to contact the WLS folks to see what I have to do from here. Hopefully all other tests are done and I can go to Med Sirg review soon.
