I have sent my initial request to my insurance company. I know I will receive a denial because I have a written exclusion. However, I am preparing for my appeal. I have written to all of our Presidential canditates for the need of weightloss management, including surgery, to be mandatory in every insurance policy. That way, no matter who wins the election, they know the need. I have written my legistators, my congressmen/women, and my senators. I have written to my Department of Insurance and every other health official I could get an address for. I am even drafting a letter to the President of the United States. I belive that insurance companies are discriminating against obesity and morbid obesity. I do not understand why they will cover any other needed medical treatment and they will cover treatment for alcoholism and drug abuse (I am not saying these things are not needed, I believe they are needed). However, I believe that if they cover these treatments, they should cover weightloss treatments as well. They should not discriminate. I am becoming an avid political advocate for this topic.
